Blaze was a competitive offer to sign and he chose Penn state for the winning culture. However Penn state pays their wrestlers differently than other schools. They will give you good initial offer but if you win championships you are going to make much more than he would have at Ohio state. Aaron brooks and Starroci were both paid 1 million dollars for winning number 4 and now Carter is being paid 1.3 million this year for number five. That is the only reason he came back. Is because of the pay. They seem to run more of an incentive program. Penn state was honestly just wasting money by having Starroci come back as he is not even needed to win a championship and will win by a landslide.

Bassett we weren’t close on. Then you will have to pay both brothers next.

Jim what do you mean? The only reason Parco, Caliendo, Teemer, and Buchanan went to Iowa this year are because they got paid. Parco and Teemer were called up and offered money when they weren’t even in the portal. Hamiti was in the portal the day after ncaas and said do not contact. He was obviously tampered with. Theee straight recruiting classes in a row have been almost the entire top 6-7 guys Oklahoma state, Iowa, Penn state. That was not happening before. It’s not a coincidence.[/quote]

I'm talking about recruits and not transfers. But you don't think Hamiti or Caliendo are better off at their new school? Caliendo transferred after his freshman year.

“ Tom Ryan is just too loyal to his guys.” I’m still trying to fully comprehend this from a couple days ago….unless this involves being so loyal you overlook some sort of malfeasance (like maybe J Rob), I think this is a plus.

If Les Wexner liked wrestling instead of women’s underwear, we wouldn’t be having this conversation.

Les Wexner dated my Mother In Law. If one disregards the fact my wife would not have been born if she had married him, I would have ended up with plenty of money to blow on NIL.

I think it's both a plus and minus.

Loyalty is admirable. I'm sure we'd all like to believe we're loyal. It's a positive trait. But if your end goal is winning, there comes a time when you have to make tough decisions.

Take 197, for example. TR has stated outright that they looked at options there and thought that the guys they could bring in wouldn't be that big of an improvement. That was, quite obviously, wrong.

It's the monkey's cage parable. If you walk into a monkey cage, you'll immediately notice it smells like !#$@. However, if you live in that cage, you won't notice a thing. You might even start to like the smell.

Brian, that’s untrue.

Tom Ryan is on the record saying he sat down his 197s and told them he was considering bringing in a transfer, believed to be Jacob Cardenas. The 197s agreed that it made sense.

Tom tried to get Cardenas. Alas, Cardenas went elsewhere - Michigan, unfortunately.

Tom Ryan is going after national title contenders in the portal. They cost a lot. He’s not getting them, and it’s setting the program back.

It makes little sense to go after low All-American caliber types. As we know but often forget, those guys score few team points at the NCAA tournament. Plus, the Bucks already have similar or better talents at most weights.

Individual title contenders bring team titles. The Bucks need more of them.

Shaw is in PA finals and dominated his way there.
