Bassett actually eliminated Princeton during his prolonged recruitment process, FWIW. So down to 14 schools.
Quote from Nick Lecklider's post:

"When I made the call that this would be the year that Ohio state could overtake Penn state a few things changed. First I didn’t realize Kirkvliet, Bartlett, and Starroci all still had eligibility and would come back. Second they picked up a world class wrestler in Messenbrink from the transfer portal. That’s nearly 100 points at ncaas right there. Nil and and the transfer portal have changed college wrestling greatly since then.
Ohio state should have been a clear second place finisher this year but Oklahoma state and Iowa both added many parts to their rosters in the portal. College wrestling has really changed. I still feel like they have a chance at second with probably 5th being the lowest they finish. All depends on who is wrestling and how healthy people are.
As for recruits Vinny B is not that big of loss imo. He took some bad losses this summer and his stock dropped quite a bit. It may have to do with his brother. Nick may be unhappy with Davino and the heavy recruitment of Blaze. Blaze is a must get to be in any sort of contention in the future.
Bo Bassett is visiting this weekend. He is down to 15 schools. I am still calling he ends up a buckeye. Just too many things that make sense for him to be in Columbus. His two biggest sponsors max muscle and Rudis are based in Columbus. His biggest strength and conditioning coach Meyer’s is here. Tom Ryan and his deep faith. Then he has mentioned he wants to be close to home. Eliminates ok state and Iowa. Ohio state just needs to come up with a little cash more than likely and it happens. ( maybe a lot). You heard it here first Bassett is a Buckeye.
Next year Ohio state could make a run if they land Blaze. If Penn state lands Blaze it’s just unfair. Oklahoma state may be the team to worry about in a couple years. Taylor has already done terrific in his short time."

Interesting. Anyone ever see Dano and Nick post at the same time? Same person?
Hmmmmmmm.

Vince Bouzakis is super talented but something is off with him. A lot of questionable losses this offseason, including to Brogan Tucker of Ohio. He wrestled P.J. Duke at world trials and got his doors blown off. Duke is phenomenal but Bouzakis wasn’t the least bit competitive.
Vince fell in Flo’s rankings from first or second at his weight to ninth. This from someone with titles at Ironman and Fargo. I do wonder if it was he or the staff that initiated the breakup. Either way, good luck to him. Again, he’s a high level talent.
I wonder if the staff is working on any flips before signing day. Two years ago they stole Rogotzke from Navy. Last year Neves flipped from Stanford. Gotta believe they’ve placed some calls.
And then there’s Marcus Blaze. Signing Day is Monday. Will we hear from him before then?
