"Guess he is going to PSU according to FLO article
will be going for his fourth title this year. He's also won the prestigious Ironman
tournament and has placed at Super 32 twice. Last season, Blaze tested himself at the Clarion Open in November and placed second while
notably defeating NCAA runner-up Matt Ramos. Blaze is truly one of the most accomplished high school wrestlers of all time and will carry huge
expectations with him to State College."
|
Huh?????? Flo is not reporting he is going to Penn state. He may end up there but I mean that’s bad journalism to ruin a kids college commitment. Don’t see any article saying he is going to Penn state."

Thank you for clarification on this.
Will Dan still share his intel after the decision?

Dan knows. He shared the information with me. Dan isn’t one to detract from the shine of a kid making the announcement. That’s just not who he is. <shrug>
But I’m sure he’ll be relieved to share Blaze’s choice shortly after Blaze does.

It’s official. This one hurts. The staff extended a lot of time and energy on this and did no good. This is a very weak class for the buckeyes. Only good thing to come from this is Jax Forrest may now be in play but would have been unlikely with him and davino. Hopefully Davino owns blaze throughout college.
Blaze probably starts immediately at 141 as that will be the weight of need. I hope Jesse stays at 141 to welcome him to NCAAs.

This does indeed, suck.
From what I had heard starting about a month ago from a Big 10 source, it was always PSU. Did OSU ever have a shot? I'm not sure. Why was Blaze so quiet the whole time, probably that's just because who he is.
last year the Bucks bring in a potential star in Davino. They also bring in Birden, who has promise, too early to tell.
Current seniors all I know of is Maddox (If Vince B is indeed transferring) and c/o 2025 I don't think they have anyone signed yet, as those boys are currently committing all over.
Fact is, OSU needs to jump right back in- Go all in on Bassett, Forrest and go after blue chippers in Cali, NJ and KY (Yes hi Raney bros)
let's hope we can get over this sting quickly. Onward.

No surprise. Of course they spent a lot of time on it, Blaze is basically the last guy in the country to commit. I think realistically Joey Blaze would've needed to be a Buckeye already for this to go OSU's way.
Class of 2025 is very light. Obvious plan here is to load up on 2026. They're in on Bassett, Forrest, Ross and Munaretto. Need to land 2 of those 4 to have any shot at keeping pace.
Penn State just followed up a class where they landed 5 top 15 recruits (#1,#5,#6,#8,#14) with a class including #1 and #2, along with #16 and #18. All pretty much project to different weights as well. On top of that they will aggressively acquire transfers if they have any weaknesses in the lineup. Hard to compete with this.

We did not make Ross top 4 and Munaretto may be in play but his stock continuously drops also. Bad Ironman, bad state tourney, bad wno. He is a career 125 and we already have lots of eligibility at 125 with guys who are better.

I was not impressed with Munaretto in a few matches I watched. But what do I know.

Pat Mineo reports Ohio States offer to Blaze was "6 years $400K/year = $2.4 million."
Not sure if 100% accurate but worth mentioning.

It's a kick in the balls to be sure made worse by the fact that he seems like such a high caliber young man. The saving grace was landing a similar talent in Davino.
The only "good news" is that PSU is going to start losing some of these battles. The bad news is the winner will probably be Okie State.
Just my opinions. Not worth any more than the cyber ink with which they're written.

It makes me wonder is PSU getting these top guys because of crazy NIL offers or their reputation as perennial NCAA Champs, or is it a combination of both? This must have been how Penn State people felt when Spencer Lee went to Iowa instead of PSU.

I mean starrocci said to be making 1.2 million this year. Ohio state could never afford that. Penn state has a much higher budget. If blaze produces he will end up making much more. Iowa and Oklahoma state have much deeper pockets also. At least we have more money to try and get Bassett and Forrest now.

Best of luck to Marcus in college — though I hope he gets a paper cut every time he handles a piece of paper.
