Excuse my ignorance for this question, but I thought I had read that the US failed to qualify this weight for the Olympics? Is this accurate, or am I losing my mind?
If so, why was the class contested this weekend?

You're correct to note that the Bunch v Zadick winner--Zadick--currently has not qualified. But, FILA has a handful of wildcards to select so there is an outside shot that Zadick will wrestle. Secondly, for rankings purposes, the US needs a winner.
