At 109, Gabby Henry and Paige Nemec will meet in the 3rd place match, both finished 2nd in their pool. This is Nemec's 1st freestyle event, and she is only going to be a sophomore. Henry is committed to Cumberland.
at 124, Yoder is an AA for the second year, and will be a senior at Beavercreek.
132- Shelby Shirley played basketball last season after goign 17-2 on the boy's JV as a freshman. She was a 2nd team Asics choice as a freshman and hopefully returns to the mat this season. She won her pool and will face studette Tatiana Padilla in the finals. To get there, Shirley had to defeat the excellent Indian Lake Junior Kirsten Harmon, who is wrestling for third place tonight.
138- Lauren Louive from Massilon Washington (also committed to Cumberland) is in for 7th place. She has been traingin hard with COach Gil Donahue to get ready for FS.
153- Olympic Trial Qualifer (and Fitch Sophomore) Jessica Smith is going for 3rd, while North Royalton Junior Erin English nabs her 2nd AA in as many years (going for 5th)
Great tournament so far, girls. Much props to coaches Kip Flanik, Toccara Montgomery and Nena (3 Pac) Garcia.

Great finish....
One minor detail - I am pretty sure that Paige will be a junior this year at Crestwood. Either way, she will do some damage this year!
Congrats to the group... good stuff.

Paige Nemec- 109- 3rd
Gabby Henry- 109- 4th
Katy Yoder- 124- 8th
Shelby Shirley- 132- 2nd
Kerstin Harmon- 132- 4th
Lauren Louive- 139- 8th
Jessica Smith- 153- 3rd
Erin English- 153- 4th
The girls finished in 4th place overall. They were only 2 points out of 3rd place Kansas, which had help from a couple girls from other states, and only 4 points out of 2nd place powerhouse California.
The top teams all brought a lot of girls (ex- first place Texas brought 34). Ohio only took 11 and 8 of the 11 AA'ed. If not for being in the same weight class as each other (only top finisher scores for the state), Ohio would have easily taken 2nd.
This was a young team, too. Good things to come..

Sorry, Erin!
This girl's team is VERY young and should continue to improve big time next season. It is my understanding that they are commited to winning the national title next season, with shear numbers beign the only viable obstacle.
We are seeing the first group of girls that really were mat rats as 5 year old (like many elite male wrestlers). This equates to better technique and hopefully better national results.
