Congratulations to Jamie! It looks like Iowa State has really turned it up a notch in Ohio, snagging up two of this state's very best. It's still a couple years away, but does anyone know where he'll project weight wise?

Well...I could have done without THAT one!!! <dry>
Actually, good luck to Mr. Clark at Iowa State and congrats to the family.
Will he and David Taylor be a one-two punch or do you think they'll be seperated by a few weight classes?

two years ago when Cael Sanderson came to IRONMAN, he told me then
he would "take those first 3 at 103 right now"---
he almost did that with Taylor and now Clark, he missed on Logan Stieber.
ever since Joe Heskett became Ohio states director of recruiting last spring, his old teammate and alma mater have done him wrong.
----
um, um, um, like an old girlfriend dating your best friend to spite you.

Jamie Clark is awesome. He's going to have a lot of success at Iowa State. I'll hypothesize that their success in freestyle training (and getting Taylor) might have had a big impact on them getting Clark. Congrats to the Jamie and Iowa State. Let's not forget he's only entering his junior year of high school... Wow!
Ohio State can't get them all. There will be studs that go elsewhere. It is inevitible, just like not all Iowa high school stars go exclusively to the Iowa or exclusively to Iowa State. Another thing to think about from a Buckeye perspective is: if they get both Stiebers, Clark, Taylor, etc. then some of them would have to sit instead of challenging for a national championship... and with wrestlers of that caliber, that just isn't going to happen. Another thing... it seems that Clark and White have turned it up into high gear, but we so soon forgot about the other stud (who beat White) in the Ironman that year, Jerome Robinson. I think he could be headed for great things as well. For the Buckeyes to get commitments from him and fellow St. Ignatius junior David Habat would, I think, do a lot to lessen the sting of not getting commitments from Taylor and Clark.

DC,
Jerome Robinson and David Habat not yet in same class with Taylor & Clark. Habat i like alot but he is another middle wt.
No getting around it, Taylor was the guy Ohio st wanted very badly to sign in Nov-- also wanted Neibert who verbaled to U of Wisconsin.
Ohio St got Collin, but otherwise hasnt been a good recruiting year so far--- so far. But it aint over yet and there are studs from outside Ohio who i think would like to be buckeyes.

yeh that hurts the Buckeyes, no doubt. If Logan Stieber is a 133, then Ohio st will be needing a 125 and i think Jamie Clark is a 4 year 125 very possibly.
i wanted Cael to come in again for the Ironman, asked him about it, he replied today:
"Thanks Bob, I'm pumped about Jamie. He is a great kid & tremendous competitor. I wish I could come out to the ironman, it is just a big weekend for us (the Iowa dual). The field of wrestlers is very impressive. We will watch closely online."

Why would he have to watch closely? Is his monitor small or are his eyes going bad??? Hmph. Oh well.

If he is just getting started, tell him to say home. Tell him the Ironman is cancelled. Tell him we stopped HS wrestling in Ohio.

Yes, but that doesn't exactly mean they go DI or leave the state. If I'm not mistaking, the DII, DIII and NAIA ranks are filled with Iowa wrestlers competing in Iowa. I'll have to check my facts on that, but I'm pretty sure Iowa has a number of smaller colleges doing well.

Ahhh, yes. But better they sit on our bench than beat us at the National Tournament wearing someone else's singlet!!!!! 100% pipedream yes, but true!
