Boardman has a good freshman 103 coming in. Padua is going to include Kilroy & good freshman 125 Fickel. The agreements were made so long ago i cant recall, but Ohio teams not doing well in the tourn are not bringing full teams anymore.

yes Flo again will be at Ironman.

"How have teams like Great Bridge, Parkersburg and Park. South traditionally done at the Ironman? "
Great Bridge almost won the team title several years ago, lost to Blair by a point. GB does pretty well--- 18th last year was perhaps their lowest finish, they were one point ahead of Wadsworth.
Parkersburg hasnt been doing well lately, they have talent but probably because they have been playing in the football state finals they don't fare as well as they could, 23rd last year. ----Parkersburg South stunk up the tourn last season, we invited them back only because they were a young team and have been coming to Ironman every year since the first one.

Out of curiousity for individuals to go is it by invitational only or should their coaches apply and how does that work for tournament fees and scheduling?

Ironman is a team tourn, but many teams send only their best wrestlers. (In Ohio you can have an A varsity team and a B varsity team each with their own schedule if you have at least 22 eligible wrestlers in the room. Some other states are similar.)
Can contact me in March about the 2009 Ironman. Yes its by invitation.

here is a breakdown by a Ohio fan, he does this every year in recent years,
Hats Off to fanofohio for his extensive work
. Most of the wrestlers are in last season's wt classes, but some of the top kids have been moved to their "projected" weight class. You can project yourself who might meet at which weight class. ---
Last seasons state placement is to the right of the wrestlers name.

Bob,
How does this year stack up compared to the monster year of 2005 which you seem to use as the measuring stick and rightfully so?
This year is just so deep in some weights it makes my mind spin.

Dan
the last 4 -- maybe the last 6--- have been about equal overall. 2003 Brandon brought their greatest team here. 2005 began the "California invasion". 2006 and 2007 Ohio teams upset mighty Blair.
in fact in 2006
Sport Illustrated
sent a writer and photog to cover the Ironman, they were going to do an article on
the "Blair dynasty
" but st Eds upset the apple cart, and all we got was a couple paragraphs in the magazine.
this one not the best overall,
because the last 3 weights not deep. We have had strong 189, 215 and 285 classes in the past but not this year at all.
But from 112 thru 171, it could be the best we've had for those wts in the aggregrate. ----135, 140 and 145 wil be brutal
.
at 171 # 2 in nation Lofthouse from Utah is coming to challenge # 1 Chris Phillips.
Ruth from Blair and Daube from Calif also very tough at 171.
i will be on ow.net interent radio tonite about 7:15 to discuss the Ironman.

# 2 at 130 Tony Ramos is entered at 125 with Logan Stieber----- i think Sam White will be here too, maybe Zach Neibert. Tough wt. The semis should be rocking. www.walshironman.com
# 1 Chris Phillips and # 2 Ethan Lofthouse from Utah both entered at 171 as expected.
Zach Toal and Kyle Lang both at 160.
