I can't believe this hasn't popped up on the forum yet, here is the related article:

I was absolutely shocked when I read this. The most important thing is that he is alive and ok. Would have enjoyed seeing multiple Ohio boys going after olympic medals next year but there is more to life than wrestling. Thoughts and prayers from the Lexington wrestling family go out to Joe and his family.

Class guy and great wrestler. Maybe Bob can convince him to come back to Ironman this year and leave his shoes on the mat sometime during the tournament.

We pray for Joe's continued recovery and we thank God he got the emergency help he needed to survive.

This is an extraordinary turn of events. Thank God Joe is alive. It has been a pleasure to watch him compete as a high school, collegiate and international competitor. He is one of the true greats from Ohio and has made all of us proud.

I talked with Tom Ryan this evening. Joe had surgery already and will be out of the hospital soon. He will be able to live a normal, healthy life, but will not be able to engage in the strenuous training activities that would make his heart rate skyrocket.

Best wishes to Joe and family for a healthy and speedy recovery!

Better a competitive career being over than his life. No medal is worth not seeing your daughters grow up and you and your wife growing old together.

My brother called me with this news yesterday after he saw the story on Channel 6. I thought that he was mistaken, I guess not.

I thought about not posting here, out of respect for Coach Heskett and his families privacy, but, here is to praying that Coach Heskett have a complete and speedy recovery and to being thankful that this did not occur a couple of weeks ago when he was so many miles away from home.

It made me hug my boys.

Scott I am with you...hugged my kids too. They both know Joe from clinics, and idolize the guy.

What great perspective he has! I sure hope he continues his coaching career in the Buckeye State....
