On Sunday, January 24 at 2:00 p.m., OSU will face the PSU Nittany Lions at St. John Arena. This is the Buckeyes' opening Big Ten dual of the season. There will be several marque match-ups including Palmer v. Molinaro, Sponseller v. Vallimont, Erwin v. Pucillo and Morrison v. Wade. Please let the high school coaches in your area know about the dual. The Buckeyes are looking forward to a great crowd and are asking all Ohio State fans to wear red. Following the match there will be a social at the Varsity Club located on Lane Avenue just across the street from St. John Arena.

Please turn out in force and support your Buckeyes.

Ohio State should have a relatively easy time with this one. PSU has a lot in redshirt and a lot coming in but their current lineup has some holes.

125: Pataky seems to have stalled a bit. I actually thought Triggas showed some fire at National Duals where he hung tough with Sanders until hit with a late five pt move.

133: Paddock can win.

141: Reece by major

149: Lance looked focused and nasty at national duals. Molinaro is tough but he can't bully Palmer.

157: Will it be Nemec or Jameson against Cyler Sanderson? Nemec could keep it close while Jameson and Sanderson would be a wild affair.

165: Vallimont v Sponseller is the most intriguing matchup of the dual. Vallimont moved up a weight class during last season and had a horrible start but strong finish including a victory over Spons at Big Tens. Spons hasn't had any big wins this season--top 8 guys and this would qualify as his first. I like home mat advantage for Sponseller. I hope this is the match that gets him moving forward.

174: Rella should win

184: Erwin v Pucillo looks good on paper but if Iron Mike can flash the old form it isn't that close. I still like Pucillo to "pull a Jaggers" and put it back together when it matters most.

197: Magrum is capable of defeating whomever PSU puts on the mat.

285: Wade beat Morrison at Big Tens last season but Morrison is doing the best wrestling of his career.

Final Score: Ohio State 25 PSU 6

Enjoy the rout because PSU will be a lot better starting next season.

I don't think Nemec is completely recovered from his infection he had. He looks to be back next week.

If nemec isn't back until next week, that means Jameson will wrestle Sanderson. If jameson wins or it goes down to the wire, does Jameson stay in the line up???

Derek, as far as I know, Sean Nemec is the starter at 157. Tom Ryan might be the only one who knows for a fact.

Ohio State has openly admitted there policy when it comes to starters and that whoever gives them the best chance come Big 10's and NCAA's. I think that if Jameson does pretty well down the stretch run we could see him as the starter for the season. He definately brings some style to the weight but we all know needs to limit being scored on.

Whoever is at 157 goes against Sanderson, Salazar and Kinser in the next three matches. Three pretty tough oppenents. Wins against any of these guys would be a good way to stay in the lineup.

Nemec lost to Salazar at CKLV earlier this year 10-1. I really hope that whoever starts at 157 really makes an impact at the Big 10 and NCAA level.
