Lance Palmer or Bo Jordan?

Secret option D) None of the above. I like the fact that my head is attached to my shoulders via my neck. Don't need it reassembled or rearranged!

I'm going to say I'd rather face Lance's. Maybe my memory of his high school days is imperfect (it is), but every other one of Bo's matches I truly cringe at the poor sap on bottom's pain. I think his length (compared to Palmer) allows him to drive it up higher on the arm, closer to the elbow, which gives more leverage to strain the shoulder. I may be totally making that up, but it looks terrible.

I'll make a deal with you...

If Bo's power-half is adorned in with a Block "O" in scarlet and gray for 4 or 5 years, I'll concede. But if not, Lance Palmer gets my nod for most feared power-half.

I have not seen Bo wrestle much, but in support of Ben's argument: I was always amazed that Lance was so good at throwing in the boots and running the power half with his short stocky build. I have always thought the boots and power half were a lanky man's weapon. I absolutely agree with Ben's argument about the leverage this type of wrestler can use to run one mean power half.

That being said, Lance ran that better than any compact wrestler I have ever seen and I'm sure it was no treat to be on the receiving end of it. I remember when Lance graduated from HS and entered his tOSU days. I made the comment that Lance needed to expand his riding skills, because he would NOT be dominating BigTen wrestlers by throwing in the boots and running the power half. WOW was I WRONG about that! It is not easy to make a living in college wrestling with that move. Good wrestlers on the bottom are not going to let you get the boots in. I always thought that Lance's dominance with this move in college spoke to just what a beast he was/is and to just how good he really was at imposing his will on most wrestlers.

Bo Jordan's power half is gruesome. See state finals match vs Zane Zeman and St. Edward dual vs Matt Van Curen. Perhaps my recollection is incorrect but with Lance you had 2 choices. Get turned or get your shoulder wrenched. With Bo you only have 1 choice. Get turned and get your shoulder wrenched. See 4:00 minute mark of match with Matt Van Curen. Bo puts his opponents in a position where the lower half of the body is immobilized and the upper half of the body is being torqued in the opposite direction.

Fyi, Mitch Clark said if it was evident he was going to be turned then he would go for a defensive pin instead of fighting the half and getting his shoulder wrenched.

After you wrestle Palmer, your shoulder is incredibly sore.

After you wrestle Bo, you don't have a shoulder.

I disagree with the two above posters. I'd take Bo's over Lance's any day of the week.

My rationale, Bo tried one power half on VanCuren, then it was td's for the tech. Lance would have stuffed the legs back in and went to the power half, on the same shoulder, again. And again. And again. And again...............(well at least until you were pinned to stop the pain).

Wrestle Lance, you know the boots are going in and the POWER HALF is coming. Wrestle Bo and it might be coming.

Interesting perspective. I like it.

Thanks. My wife also tells me my perspective on most topics is "interesting".

i saw one picture in the PD when Lance was in high school as he applied the "Palmer half"...he was gritting his teeth, almost smiling, as the shoulder was coming up, and his opponent was obviously, well, not comfortable.

i have not seen Bo in action, so i do have to admit that i am a little one-sided here....but someone with Lance's power and ability, and apparent desire to inflict pain first and THEN score points later, well, i will take Bo any day of the week...

haha!
