Quick run through here

103 - The two big names are not seeded in DiJilius (Walsh) and Stieber (Monroeville). If in opposite sides of the bracket that is the finals if not Stieber (Monroeville) over Mitch (Aurora) depending on how the draw is.

112 - Just like last year at this weight, 112 is deep again with talent. Mitcheff, Robinson and Tessari are all the big names. Robinson and Mitcheff will meet in the semifinals. I see a Mitcheff (Elyria) vs. Tessari (Monroeville) finals.

119 - WOW!! The top 3 wrestlers at 119 in DIII are all here. The bad new is that one of them is Logan Stieber (Monroeville) and he is the consensus #1 in the nation. The Opfer (SSMCC) vs. Sergent (Troy Chrisitan) rematch part 4 will be a good one. I see Opfer winning it but then running into the buzz saw Stieber.

125 - Hard to say how the talent from Georgia is going to fare but I have a feeling that they won't do so well. I think that Pretty (Elder) clears the finals with some ease here. The big question is who will he face from the top half someone like Chapman (Kenmore) or Meyer (Ravenna) could upset the GA state champion. I think Pretty vs. Chapman is the finals here.

130 - The semifinals of this weight are the finals in my opinion. Ryan Fields (Lakota West) and Zac Hancock (Troy Christian) will square off. I like Fields clearing this one in a close bout to make the finals against Holloway (GA) and winning his 3rd straight Brecksville title.

135 - Skonieczny (Walsh) and looking to win coming off injury. He should run into either Thome (Troy Christian) or Wukie (University School). I look for a Skonieczny vs. Thome title match.

140 - Again this shows the depth of Brecksville. Habat (Ignatius) has made his way down to 140 for the year. Aaron Sulzer (Holy Name) a returning state champion and Ironman runner-up. Lang (Brecksville) up at 140 for the year now just makes this weight that much tougher. I think the top seeds hold up as Sulzer and Habat square off in the finals.

145 - Tony Jameson (Austintown-Fitch) a 2 seed? Yes he is due to criteria. He should clear the brackets with ease. His finals opponent will be Zach Toal (Troy Christian) who has had close matches with Mason and Jordan this year. However Jameson style will just be too much for anyone here.

152 - Jedd Moore (Pleasant) will look for his first Brecksville title in his third try. Moore should be able to do so over Zac Goins (Elyria) who has made his way back up to 152.

160 - What could be the marquee match-up Eric Cubberly (Eastwood) back from injury will have to face the dangerous Steve Wilson (Pleasant). Both should have no problems with the field.

171 - Good news, Chris Phillips (Monroeville) is here. Bad news, Phillips is unseeded and will ruin a lot of people's tournament here. Phillips should easily clear the finals. His likley opponent if Phillips opposite of him is Nick Mills (University School).

189 - Jeremy Foster (Eastwood) is looking to repeat as champion at Brecksville. He should do so this year but look out for Cody Lamberg (Kenmore) who is hot right now and very well could knock off Bailey (Walsh).

215 - Two man show here between Matt Fisher (Perkins) and Orlando Scales (Elder). This will be a battle between two very tough wrestlers. I think Fisher wins in a close bout.

285 - John Hiles is here and that is all you need to know. This is a far cry from last year's tough weight. His finals opponent will most likely be Brad Hager (Ravenna).

Team wise this one looks like Troy Christian has got the edge with the talent they have spread throughout. Look for teams like Marion Pleasant, Lakota West, Elder and Monroeville should all grace the top 10.

Tony Jameson has won 3 state titles yet gets the second seed according to the criteria. Obviously, there's a flaw in the criteria. Granted, it will make no difference to Jameson but it provides him with solid motivation in case he needs it. I'd hate to be the third seed.

Jameson was 2nd seed because he was 3rd at districts last year and Toal was 1st.

Notes

- Pleasant leads the team score by 1 point over Troy Christian
- Tessari with the big upset over Mitcheff 8-4, Does Mitcheff need to move up to 119 he maybe cutting to much weight
- Sergent and Opfer round 4 today, I think Opfer gets him this time
- Isaiah Chapman continues his torrent run through wrestlers this year, this time over Kretz of Twinsburg
- Lang and Habat should be a great match between these two wrestlers
- Jameson doing what he does best, winning big
- Bryan (Ignatius) gave Cubberly all he can handle in the quarterfinal match
- Phillips tearing apart the competition here
- Lamberg over Bailey in the quarters, Lamberg very well coud win DI state this year
- Fisher and Scales still dominating

Akron Kenmore has some very impressive wrestlers. I really like seeing a city school with such a good program.....Mitcheff committed to Kent (as did the latest Opfer). Given the success being enjoyed by Nic Bedelyon, I'm not sure where either fits. It's possible Bedelyon could move up but probably not until Dan Mitcheff graduates. So two new 125's are going to sit for awhile--at least two years--barring injury or redshirt.

DR: I'm aware of why Jameson got the second seed. My point is that winning three consecutive state titles should be part of the criteria.

the Bryan Golden Bears made it home safely...

and if you're doing the math, yes, that means we had no one qualify for the finals.. out of eight wrestlers, five one a match, and all were eliminated last night (friday). But we stuck around today to watch the semi-finals...which were just phenomenal and like nothing we've ever been exposed to. It was just an entirely new caliber of wrestling to witness. Both the Steibers were very impressive, Jameson's technique made everything look second nature to him, and my buddy Troy Opfer beat Ben Sergeant in the rematch to their state finals with a 4-3 win. He'll face Logan Stieber in the finals, which started three minutes ago.

This was our first year participating in this tournament, and it was a very awesome experience. Maybe not so much for our boys' self esteem from getting tossed around a little bit, but as a stat girl who follows the sport very intently, it was just awesome. =)

if anyone has any questions, I have a bracket sheet that is some-what filled out so I'll do my best!

Go Bucks! =0)

From Ohiowrestlingsite.com Zach Toal (Troy Christian) defeated Tony Jameson (Fitch) 10-9 in the finals. A huge upset to say the least.
