It seems like the only way to beat Caldwell is to pin him. Lang & Jaggers both beat him at Nationals with pins. He's a scoring machine but if you can turn him, he can be pinned. BTW I saw Jameson loss at Brecksville. He was doing great on his feet, but got sloppy on top & got reversed with back points. Troy wrestler, while being ridden, got hold of Tony's leg and head and pulled him over the top, nearly pinning him. Jameson was a good sport about the loss, and shook hands & tapped the kid on the shoulder. No temper tantrum like some kids do.

According to the Brackets, Drew Lashaway pinned Adam Frey in :28 in the quarterfinals.

That's a big win.

He meets Charles Griffin in the semis.

As if 149 wasn't crowded enough, now add Roberts to the mix.

I don't get how Dustin loses to Roberts? This is almost like him losing back to back matches at Ironman his sophomore year to Johnstone and Grogg. 149 is by far the toughest weight with Schlatter, Lang, Metcalf, Palmer, O'Connor, Caldwell and Churella to name a few. Whoever his hot that weekend come March will be crowned the champion.

I agree, Dan. I was thinking about the weight class on my way home, which spawned other thoughts...our fan base, Palmer's resume', his Freshman year, etc.

I have come to the point, even as a Buckeye fan, that anybody can beat anybody - that is a given in ANY weight class. Some wins are more likely than others - say, anybody in St. Louis vs. me! but when it comes crunch time at the National tournament, I have a feeling there may be two, three or even four guys that any other year or any other weight class would be top 5, let alone top 8, will not be around come awards time. I suppose that that is the harsh reality of our sport. But then again, that is also the great thing about it as well.

Is this the deepest weight class the college ranks has ever seen? I don't know enough abou tthe history of college wrestling to say yes, but given the number and talent of GREAT wrestlers at this weight, it would be amazing if there was, at one time or another, a deeper weight class.
