There finally here after not being able to get out preseaon rankings due to finals interfering with them. The first edition of OhioWrestling.Net Division 1 Rankings are here.

The link: http://www.ohiowrestling.net/rankings/highschool/division1.html

Have at them.

Team rankings will be out after the state duals.

It looks like Eds rebounds sooner rather than later if those rankings are close. Also, Roddy is listed as a junior: I thought this was his senior year and he was heading to Northwestern next year.

I forgot to change that he was a junior last year and was on top of the rankings last year didn't change it then. I will now thanks for the heads up.

Nice job Dan, I know it takes a lot of time and effort into doing these so thanks for compiling these....

It looks like Squire will have his work cut out for him...

My two cents on 152.....Rigel had a sizable lead on Ewing in the semifinals (at the G) before Ewing pulled a toss out of his behind and stuck him...can't take anything away from Ewing.... that's why they wrestle the matches

I was wondering about that match there, before hand I thought Rigel would win before facing Boyd. Ewing is dangerous. 152 is such a mess behind Dong after a while it's like throwing darts to see who belongs where.

Looks good, can't wait for the other two divisions!

Dan: Great job as usual.

Robert: I'm working on it. The problem is I keep getting TOO MANY kids to rank. That's why Brakeman goes as deep as he does. We're "only" going to 16. I now understand why Brakeman goes that deep AND waits til February. Whew! What a task he has!

DR:

Add me to those congratulating you on a nice job. Ranking is tough business and the variables change often.

Question for you: am I crazy or does D1 look very thin in terms of depth (outside of a few stud wt classes)?

Yes DI is very thin in terms of depth this year. I think 130 and 140 maybe the deepest weight class in all of them and that is due to the Palmer-Jameson effect. Everyone one is avoiding those two like the plague.

Understood, just excited.

Having gone through the drafting process for DI, the depth is just not there for weights above 140 with the exception of 152. Some depth does exist at 189 and 215, but it's not great.

Ranking DII was impossible because of the QUALITY DEPTH.

As always, DIII is operating on its own planet because of the nature of the core competitors - many of which are outside the "core markets".

Basically the depth food chain goes this year: DII, DI, DIII.

DII and the depth is insane this year as it has been the past few years. You look at kids that would win DI titles but are stuck in some serious depth situations and they aren't going to win state due to that.

Dan: How often will these be updated and will DiJulius' win over Sako change 103?

Sako will remain at top in DI since DiJulius is DII. In the overall rankings though Sako is third at the moment when the come out due to DiJulius winning the head to head match.
