Discussion Topic: Logan Stieber v. Tony Ramos
Ethan Moore added to this discussion on February 18, 2013

Just watched the match from the 2012 Big Tens.

Logan was never out of position aside from the first TD.

Ramos's antics at the end of the match and Logan's complete class and control make it even more intriguing. That moment should make all OSU fans very proud!

Since they could wrestle this weekend is it time to re-start this discussion?

I have watched Ramos just run through pretty much everyone. Just a machine. I think he is leagues better than he was, and leagues more confident than he was. That being said, Logan is still Logan. And to call him an underdog despite what Ramos has accomplished this year would still be hard to do. Gonna be a slugfest.

I really cant see people worried about Ramos. Yes he is very good. But that said Logan is 3-0 against him. Yes they were close last yr. In my opinion Logan has gotten way better since they last meet. I will go with Logan any day of the yr. Prediction 8-3 Logan...

Ramos has improved leaps and bounds over last year. He has been absolutely annihilating everyone not named Logan Stieber. But Logan has improved moreso and he will smack Ramos around. And yes, Logan has handled the rivalry with class but I will not be a bit surprised to see him come out and abuse Ramos for a major or more. At the same time, because of Ramos' improvement I could also see him keeping it close...but not close enough to win. Logan 9-1

Do not let TOSU colored glasses fool you....Ramos is in Logans league from a college wrestling standpoint. Good luck finding a bigger Stieber fan, as they are just top quality people, but Ramos has had one singular goal for the past year....and thats beating Logan. Hes not intimidated and hes unbelievably driven. Also, he did defeat Oliver last year whhich is a huge task. I take Logan everyday of the week, but this is way more of a rivalry than people are giving it credit for.

Jamie...don't you think it's a pretty one-sided rivalry? Not just in the 3-0 record, but in the way each of them approaches the other. I don't doubt that Ramos eats, sleeps and breathes Logan Stieber and has for over a year now, but I don't think Stieber thinks of Ramos that way. Honestly, I think Ramos is just another guy Stieber beats on his way to another NCAA title.

I know a lot people talk about how Ramos has been dominating everyone but correct me if I'm wrong but isn’t Logan the leading candidate for most dominant wrestler?

I think they are even on their feet
I don’t think Ramos can ride Logan
I do think Logan can ride Ramos
My only concern would be Logan’s gas tank and Ramos ability to push the pace. However I do think Logan offsets that with his ability to ride.

2 of the 3 matches last year Ramos was deep on the tieing shot as time expired. Also, Ramos has defeated Logan in FS. Having said that, I absolutly agree that Logan is just as dedicated if not more and he views Ramos as stiff competition. Thats just another quality in a long list that makes Logan the person and competitor he is. Im simply stating that the matches last year where close. To predict major decisions and romps is not viewing things realistically im my opinion.

Ramos didn't dominate Ok St Morrison (3-2), and Morrison loses to KSU McGuire this past weekend. But Ramos & Stieber are oh so familiar with each other. Should be a close match.

I think Logan vs Ramos is similar to Brands vs Fried.

Fried is an all time Ohio stud but Brands had his number. Five of Fried's six losses were to Brands.....much like Fried didn't win it all till Brands wasn't in his weight class, Ramos won't win a title until Logan moves up next year. IMO.

These are two of the top 6 or 7 best wrestlers in the country right now.

I think Logan just needs to be strategic with his shots. When he attempts to score he has to be committed, especially in the third period when Ramos is effective at scoring off poor shots.

Ramos, true to the antiquated Iowa-style, will hand fight, push, and shove without making a true offensive attempt. This is to force poor shots.

It reminds me a lot of Palmer vs Metcalf.

Ethan: I'm not sold that it's antiquated, but it certainly is Iowa-style.
