It would be intersting to learn how some of Ohio's best youngsters (both current and historical) have developed over the years.

The 2, 3 and 4x state champs from Ohio that have won the Ironman, Beast of the East, schoolboy, cadet national success, etc. and have gone on to do other great things in the sport.

How young were they when they started, when they started to compete in high level tourneys, how many competed in Freestyle/Greco-Roman during the summer and at what age they started that, when they started participating in camps and which ones were most beneficial, training philosophies, their struggles/challenges, the dads, coaches and mentors etc.

I would guess that the research would demonstrate a simliar pattern of history, philosphy and training methods all intoduced at about the same time of the athletes' development. Although I understanding that it takes a special kid, special mind set, etc. to become an outstanding wrestler, I would expect to find a very similar formula common to the majority of these youngsters.

A sports journalist or well-conected coach could write a book on this subject.

Anyone agree or am I crazy?
