SHAWN CONTOS’ MAT RATS FREESTYLE AND GRECO ROMAN WRESTLING CLUB
Date: Monday, Wednesday and Friday evenings starting March 12 thru June 11, 2008
Time: 6:00 – 8:00pm
Where: Eastwood High School Wrestling area
Cost: $125 per athlete
This includes gear (hoodie, T-shirt, sweatpants), workouts, and tournament coaching
USA Wrestling Card:
All athletes must have a current USA card. This card is necessary in order to compete at any of the USA tournaments we plan to attend as a team. This card is also mandatory in order to be a member of this club. This card can only be purchased online.
To purchase your new USA wrestling card go online to www.TheMat.com. Then go to the registration link and follow the instructions. I am getting a membership to USAWrestling, and every wrestler must have a card prior to stepping on the mat at the first workout.
Technique Focus:
Freestyle and Greco-Roman technique. We will teach the latest and most proven Freestyle and Greco techniques at every workout. We will also wrestle live at almost every workout. Finally, we will train our club wrestlers in order to peak and excel for the State Freestyle and Greco tournaments in May. We also want to qualify as many wrestlers as possible for the Cadet and Junior National teams in Fargo N.D.
Guest Clinicians:
We will have several college wrestlers and coaches in the room from time to time. On some of these days we will let the college guys show what's working on that level.
**Competitions**:
We will be attending several events this year. Tentatively, we will be going to the Northeast Regional (Brockport NY), FILA Cadet World Team Trials (Akron OH), Freestyle State (Wadsworth OH), Greco State (Marion OH), the Central Regional in Columbus Ohio, and the Western Regional in Las Vegas Nevada. We will also be attending other local competitions around the area.
Ages: This club will be open to kids who are currently in grades 7 thru 12
