The National Wrestling Coaches Association (NWCA), Greater Cleveland Wrestling Coaches and Officials Association (GCWCOA), and Wrestlers in Business Network (WIBN) Cleveland Chapter are offering Full Scholarships to the first 60 High School Coaches and their Head Assistant Coaches to participate in a program which has been provided to college coaches for several years and has now been formatted for High School Coaches. The NWCA, through a collaborative effort with internationally renowned coaching development expert, Dr. Dan Gould at Michigan State University, has constructed a gold standard leadership program to help coaches accomplish several goals, the primary is to bolster coach’s leadership skills. This program will position you for more success in your coaching career and otherwise. Additionally, we hope it will help to substantially grow participation at all levels of wrestling in Ohio. As most everyone knows, high school participation nationally for boys wrestling has dropped 7 consecutive years (in fact, participation has fallen by over 30,000) and this trend is unlikely to be reversed without strategic leadership from our coaches.
The Cleveland WIBN and the GCWCOA has partnered with the NWCA to bring the NWCA Scholastic Wrestling Coaches CEO Leadership Academy to Cleveland on Saturday April 13th from 9am to 3pm, hosted at Cuyahoga Heights High School, 4820 E 71st St, Cuyahoga Heights, OH 44125. NWCA members will receive a scholarship, compliments of the United States Marine Corps. All Ohio High School Coaches are NWCA members through registration into the OPC Weight Calculator. Pizza and drinks will be served at a cost of $5 payable the day of Leadership Academy.
So here is how the CEO Leadership Academy curriculum works: participating coaches are required to do the following:
Complete a series of short online modules (total of 7 hours). You can start/stop whenever it is convenient. Coaching staffs can work together to complete this. Content areas include recruiting/retention, program development, promoting girls wrestling, program building, etc.
Complete a 360 evaluation self-assessment
Attend the “in person†workshop on Saturday April 13th
