Time to try someone else.

No doubt. Right now you have to assume zero team points for the Bucks at Bigs and NCAAs. No reason to wait

Been saying it for weeks. He isn’t going to magically grow. Like the kid. AA candidate at 118. So it goes.

It's not just that he's small. He makes mistakes that he can't overcome because he's at a disadvantage to start.

I don't understand some of his match tactics either. Anytime his ties up he almost always drops to a knee to try and pull the opponent to a lower level. Is that a setup for his duck? He also seems to have no shot defense, and/or ability to recover once his initial shot is stopped. Perplexing. We're left to speculate about his ability to mentally recover for his current status.

Malik would be a national champ contender at 118. Unfortunately, that weight class doesn’t exist anymore. Reality bites, I love malik’s Style, he’s just not strong enough

I'm not going to pile on the kid, but it is what it is.

Rob Eiter made the dang Olympics at 105 but never saw the mat for any significant action at ASU. Tim Vanni, the same. And that was with a 118 class.

As a small guy, always sad when weight classes are taken away from small guys - and a reason why I strongly disagree with increasing the lowest weight class in HS.

They are doing this for the girls - lowest weight for UWW Junior women is 110??????

Malik's led some ranked guys until the last 15 seconds. ....

He needs to do "last seconds drills" from every position until he is confident. Drill, drill, drill. Then drink 2 milkshakes.

i'm not giving up yet but Koontz bros will be given an opportunity. This could be Ryan's weakest wt ever at Ohio St-- so far.

Just wanted to add this: I noticed at one of the Opens Jacob Decatur weighed in at 115 lbs. So everyone he goes up against he gives up nearly 10 lbs., which is a definite handicap. That being said, I take that into account when I see the results of the 125 class that Jacob is wrestling in.

Regardless of who starts I have to believe that Ralph has to be scouring the country for lightweights. Are there guys on the horizon that can step in immediately, or are the Bucks stuck in 125 purgatory like PSU?

Bucks may also have a problem at 133. Decatur would probably be more comfortable at 141 next season and it would likely enhance his performance.

Next season:

141: Decatur/Echemedia
149:Sasso/Echemedia/Kinner
157: Sasso/Echemdia/Kinner/Hubbard/Cleary
165: Kharchla/Smith/Hubbard/Cleary
174: Romero/Smith/Kharchla
184: Rocky
197: Singletary/Hoffman
285: Singletary/GTG

At 125/133 next year, you're probably looking at some combo of Heinselman/Jacob Decatur and The Koontz's. Bucks could use a quality transfer and need to land a big time recruit or two in lower wts. Bucks also need to develop some in room talent such as D'emilio and Stickley to add quality depth.

Of course I'm probably wrong and we'll see at least one more year of Jordan Decatur at 133.

Bucks only hope for a starting 125 next season is through transfer, and this needs to be top priority. Teske obviously comes to mind first, and there could always be 1-2 higher-caliber wrestlers who may decide to move elsewhere after the season. This clearly needs to be priority #1 and the Bucks need to pounce on any 125lbers entering the portal.

I always thought the biggest log jam was going to be 165/174. Kharchla, Romero & Smith, three quality guys. Does anyone think Rocky could go up to 197? But if he did, which of the three would be big enough to go 185? I thought Kaufmann was going 285?
