Bong hit itis. So stupid all around....both the athlete and the illegality of it all. I hope Zahid is allowed back for the NCAA championships.

Worse than this if true: rumors (at this point seems to be only that) on a couple of other forums that Daton Fix failed a PED test after the Pellicone.
See Oklahoma State's forum.
Hope it's not true.

Have another drink, Alex. It's legal. So are prescription medications.

It looks like prescribed THC is legal off campus, but not on a college campus or other school per 2012 law. Looks like Zahid should have been studying the rules to compete. Whoopsie.

Seems in both cases there’s a lot more info that still needs to come about. I’m curious why one athletic department would act swiftly and another school has been mum on the topic thus far. Sounds like there’s some real questions to be asked, especially about the Fix situation. In the immediate future I would think this is an extremely time sensitive situation with conference championships around the corner for ASU, and Pan Ams for USA wrestling. Was Fix suppose to go qualify the weight? Or was it Gilman? I couldn’t recall

Reportedly (on Twitter, which I guess passes for reporting these days) this is Zahid's third failed test, and there is a firm three strike policy. It was ASU that removed him from the team.
For Daton, for one he's not actively competing in NCAA competition. Second, if it's true that he tested positive for a banned PED, if there's any punishment it will probably come from the NCAA rather than the school. That was the case for the Clemson football players taking ostarine.

Alex: I'm sure I could have been more polite. But I stand by my point. We have had many laws over the years that were enforced in their day including the right to own slaves and the illegality of women voting. I think that the "it's the law" mindset can sometimes look rather silly in a historical context. We can drink and take prescription drugs but we can't smoke pot. Seems arbitrary.
Now, its quite possible I am mis-informed regarding the drug for which he tested positive. Some info filtering out that this was a harder substance. That's a whole different issue.

Is cocaine a recreational drug or a PED?

Fearlessness, enhanced sensory system, antifatigue.
Purely recreational <sarcasm>
Are reactions excellent or Matrix like?

Such a shame, throwing away the chance to be a national champ for a few snorts or a few puffs and a few hours of being high. What a poor trade.
All the work he's done his whole life; the work of his parents, his coaches...what a waste.
[sigh] If I would have had his body, his talent...but that's an old person looking back. It's true that youth is wasted on the young! :-)
I feel bad for him, hope he gets a good degree from ASU and has a happy and productive life.

Gary: Good point.
I feel the most sympathy for Zeke Jones. He worked tirelessly for years to build a powerhouse program and now, on the verge of getting a real payoff, his star makes a short sighted decision. Boom.

If he doesn’t participate in the NCAA tournament, who/what team benefits the most? Surely some chose a weight class above or below in part by considering Valencia the most likely to win.
