Huge news and a huge surprise, at least to me. Kolat seems to be on the come up as a wrestling coaching genius. I’m curious how this plays out. Annapolis is well within reach of the best wrestlers in the country recruiting wise, but that’s a whole other level of commitment for a kid. Sure makes for some great discussion. What league is Navy in for wrestling?

This is a very odd move for Navy and Kolat, the academy as Mr. Ball pointed out is a different level of commitment, and the penalties for not fulfilling that commitment are very steep(after freshman year). Kolat is no Joel Sharrett, they are wired very different, I do believe Kolat is the superior technician and wrestler, but Joel is(unless I hear something to the contrary) a tremendous person and asset to the military outside the room, his work ethic is legendary and his hand to hand training the soldiers in combat was on going and part of his commitment to the academy(navy and Air Force). There is so much more to the academies than sport, and Joel was the perfect person for that.
I am a huge Kolat fan, but I saw him in the big ten very soon, actually surprised he isn’t already, he would be my first choice for a big ten job and with their budgets, his style, coaching and recruiting, it would be special. Surprisd by Joel leaving, and the Kolat move

I read on a thread that USMA has beaten USNA for the last 4 years and that matters.
I assume it would be similar to an OSU v UM rivalry. Also, as younger, more aggressive ADs are left in charge, the old guard will be pushed out if they don't achieve agreed upon metrics.
