i have no knowledge of details but KUDOS, clearly CSU on right path, finally, after wasting many years. Hopefully wont be another Old Dominion. .....Just received:

This season saw only the 2nd winning dual meet season for the program in the past 13 years. The teams 9 dual meet victories this season were the most since the 2006-07 season. Our 5 conference wins were the most since 2002-03 and totaled more than all of the programs conference wins for the last 3 seasons combined. Included in those wins were thrilling dual meet victories over Buffalo and Kent State. The win over Buffalo was the programs first since the 1970s and the win over Kent State snapped a 12-match losing streak dating back to the 2003-04 season. Even in our dual meet loses the team competed hard winning 4 bouts against nationally ranked Missouri and nearly nocking off top conference opponents Ohio and Central Michigan.

The Vikings had a successful tournament season as well with 9 regular season individual tournament champions and 33 individual tournament placers. Evan Cheek was the first CSU wrestler to win and individual title at the CSU open since 2011 and the teams 9 placers at the open mark a program record. Cheek also placed at the prestigious Southern Scuffle, earned a top 20 national ranking and along with freshman Logan Heil earned MAC Conference wrestler of the week honors.

Even with all of these outstanding accomplishments the teams strong finish at the MAC Championships stands out as the most exciting and impressive performance of the season. In spite of being projected to finish 14th or 15th in the championship all season long, we finished in the top half of the conference placing seventh and beating out Ohio, Kent State, Clarion, Edinboro and Buffalo in the process. On the strength of Evan Cheeks impressive run to the finals and the placements of Logan Heil (sixth at 125lbs), Justin Patrick (seventh at 133lbs), Riley Smucker (fifth at 165lbs), Deandre Nassar (seventh at 184lbs), Ben Smith (seventh at 197lbs) and John Kelbly (sixth at 285lbs) we were able to blow away the expectations.

Evan Cheek earned an automatic bid to the NCAA Championships and the 16th seed but, due to the Coronavirus outbreak, was unfortunately unable to make his All-American run. He leaves Cleveland State as a decorated wrestler with 100 career wins, an EWL Conference Title and Outstanding Wrestler award and a 2x NCAA Championships Qualifier. Congrats Evan.

By all accounts this was a very successful season and with 9 starters returning for next season there is good reason to be optimistic about the future of Cleveland State Wrestling!

Sounds like good things happening at Cleveland State. I think most people felt like Coach Moore would have them moving in the right direction. I know one of the bright spots this year for Kent was Rooney at 133 but he is a senior. McNally (174) and McCracken (197) both had good years as well and should be returning.

I am looking forward to attending CSU matches next season. They have earned support. As to their lineup, they have Logan Heil at 125 as a potential bright spot. Hopefully, they can nab more promising Ohio kids who are looking to be developed.

i think CSU wrestling program in solid situation-- not necessarily so for schools that depend on football revenue.

corona virus might scare fans from attending games even at Ohio St-- if we have a season. To not have that football revenue to support all the non-revenue sports like wrestling will mean the ax for some-- but not CSU.
