Since Patrick Downey got taken off the promotion Myles Martin is his new opponent. Thoughts? Hoping Martin can give him a good match. Patrick Downey no longer is with the njrtc either. Always seems to be his own worst enemy.

I’m not sure what the format of the match is, as I know these are typically negotiated by both parties. Myles’ win over Ringer at the open definitely gave credence to his arrival on the Senior Circuit. It’s tough to know what kind of training situations each guy has been operating under. Based on previous performances I’d like to think the match would be pretty competitive in the first half of the match. I’m not shocked if both guys exchange takedowns. As the match wears on I think you have to give the nod to D.T.. His pacing is legendary, and there are definitely examples of Myles leaking oil late in matches. I’d say the match is close heading into the last two minutes, and then David opens it up for a comfortable win by two’ish’ takedowns.

Sorry didn’t even see pletcher vs Caldwell. Caldwell has been in mma but was definitely the better college wrestler. I remember he decked Palmer in like 30 seconds once. Also remember his match dominating metcalf and doing a backflip. Has been pretty good in Bellator. How the hell is he fighting at 135? I’m guessing the lay-off will give the advantage to pletcher though who has been training full time. Just like when Oliver beat Palmer pretty easily.

The addition of Myles Martin excites me. I was already looking forward to watching wrestling. Now, it’s even better! I think MyMar has the ability; just wonder (like Jared) about his training situation over the past 6 months. I know he works out with Dustin at Old School Gym, but as far as movement, timing, and being in “wrestling shape”, those things are tough to replicate while social distancing.

agree with Mark. Myles is a terrific opponent for Taylor. They're both offensive minded and exciting to watch.
Pletcher v Caldwell is probably going to be a TF for LOOOOOKKKKK. Caldwell is a talent but has not been actively wrestling for a long time.
Nice to see two Bucks as part of this card.

Myles looked great in his win against Ringer. Way more physical than he has been in the past. That said, David Taylor is a tall mountain to climb. I feel like with Ringer being small for the weight, Zahid's drug issues, and Downey not being able to keep his shit together makes an improving Myles Martin the main challenger to Taylor. Taylor has to be pushing 30, maybe he wins the Olympics and then goes into coaching and Myles emerges as guy moving forward?

I'm excited to see this, but make no mistake: Martin is going up against the best in the world at the weight class. Heck, pre-injury, Taylor may have been the best pound for pound in the world. Tough to say what his condition is a little over a year removed from injury.
Martin winning is a long shot, and the match could get ugly. However, hopefully he gets a good feel for what he needs to do to improve. If he wins... great!

I agree on Myles’ experience gained. And if he can walk away with that experience AND a victory, that’s the proverbial two birds with one stone!!!
Quick question: what puts D.T. above people like Chamizo, Sadulaev, etc for P4P best? (Not saying it’s not the case; just wondering perspective.)

I don't think he ever really was ranked #1 pound for pound; I think Ben was just saying that he may have been the best pound for pound in 2018. That's probably based mostly on him beating Yazdani, going undefeated throughout 2018, and his wins at the last few World Cups.

Correct, Jeff. He demolished everyone in the world including Yazdani-charati over the span of about 18 months in a way that is very rare. I'm not saying he was ranked or should have been ranked as the best, but he may have been the best.

Sadulaev certainly has earned the #1 spot very solidly, but I would think pre-injury D.T. had a strong case for #2, and certainly would be above Chamizo, who won in 2017 but not 2018. I would think it would have been Sadulaev, then some combination of D.T., Petrashvili, and Sidakov.

Chamizo is crazy good but he would have to be behind Sidokov, JB, Taylor and maybe a few others. Prior to to his injury I would have gone 1. Sadulaev 2. Sidakov 3.Taylor
