Discussion Topic: Bucks and NCAA ranks
Jared Ball added to this discussion on August 30, 2020

Several publications have began releasing their NCAA preseason rankings. Olympic redshirts have been added back into the fold. Without the benefit of the NCAA tournament many of the Buckeyes have not had the opportunity to earn post season accolades, and as a result the team will start the season with zero returning all Americans for the first time....probably ever. Here is where FloWrestling has the squad ranked individually:
125: Heinsleman #23
149: Sasso #1
165: Karchla #15
174: Romero #4
184: Jordan #9
197: Singletary #15
285: Orndorf #8

Preseason rankings are a formality that pretty much everyone recognizes as meaningless due to the uncertainty of landing spots for guys who are uncertain of weight class. Karchla is a great example of that. Many pundits have mentioned that Karchla wants to go up and wrestle 174, and guys like Yanni might move up as well. The nice thing about being unproven is that there is a lot of room for growth. In my mind 125 and 197 are the two weakest weights in the field. If the Bucks are able to make noise in these two weights, and Enchemendia proved to be the legitimate we could see Ohio State push for a trophy this year. I’m not sure they have the title threats as in recent years, but they absolutely have depth.
