Yes yes I know Ohio State.....I mean Big Ten football starts today but I've always liked following the Super 32.

I'm not as familiar with the HS National scene as I have been in the past, but it appeared there were quite a few big names still entered this year. On top of some brackets being over 100 wrestlers deep!

I think Shumate was the only Bucks recruit I saw in the brackets, but several big Ohio names entered included Munguis, Evansm Hightower, Moon, (early loss) Messer, and many more. I also saw a few #1 guys such as Bouzakis (please come to OSU) Ayala and Jesuroga.

Should be a good day for football and wrestling fans.

Doesn't seem like Ohio is having a very good tournament as a whole.

#3 Jordan Titus a big name that took an early loss.

The prevailing opinion seemed to be that Ohio had a rough start to the tourney. I probably don’t know enough about the current crop of talent to agree or disagree with that statement. However, I did see that the Buckeye state managed to push five into the semis. Beric Jordan and Alex Martin represented Graham well by making the semis. I’d love to see Jordan make the final to take on Kilkeary out of PA (same high school as Pletcher). Elyria product Manguia decked his quarterfinal opponent from PA in a cradle out of a nifty scramble at 160. Does anyone know who Dylan Walker is? I tried to google him, and I was thinking he was out of Galia but I’m completely unsure. His quarterfinal match looked like he was outmatched for most of the six minutes, but he hung in for a last minute reversal to make the final. Shumate made the semis. I think he must get board sometimes. He is so explosive that he looks like he’s just trying dangerous low percentage moves sometimes. My goodness is he a human high light reel. Has anyone wrestled (outside of Gallagher) a better series of national competition? State champ, Double Fargo champ, who’s number 1 competitor, Iron man champ, add super 32?

And on cue Martin is the only one to push through to the finals. Shumate loses another match where he does 95% of the work and loses a match where his opponent doesn’t take a single leg attack. I love Shumate’s attack rate. He’s going to be special. He already is.

Some pretty good finals matches. Would of liked to see Shumate win (5th) but no worries.

Alek Martin and Jordan both looked great, an NP by Hightower after making the quarters, who I think was St. Eds lone representative.

Not sure whats next up for many of Ohio's elite.

Name to watch - Mason Gibson, second at 120. A Freshman from PA, projected as the next PA superstar - on the level of Spencer Lee.

"...on the level of Spencer Lee."

That's a bold statement.

That's a good point about Shumate, Jared! Shumate already has the motor and strength. Once he gets in the tOSU room with some skilled technicians he can gain the knowledge to finish moves.

Reminds of the quote I believe from Kyle Snyder:

"In youth wrestling, if you want to learn how to wrestle; shoot.

If you want to win; don't shoot."

I know this is HS, but I believe Shumate will be better off in the long run with the aggressive approach.
