Great pre-seed position for Malik. vs. Barnett in quarters is fantastic.

Top quarters for my $. 174 and 285 in B1G's are sick!!!

Paris vs. Kerkvilet in quarters.

Romero vs. Starocci in quarters.

I think the same for Rocky he has Lyons first and a win there he gets Weiler from WI
and he could potentially make the finals.

Correct -- the best possible position and draw from Rock!

Pumped for the weekend! If the Bucks manage to sneak more than Sammy into the finals I think you have to be excited about their post season chances of over performing their seeds. We need to see a couple of upsets in the process and at least perform to seed. Even Cleary and Decatur have decent shots at auto qualifying.

I don't understand why they never gave Gas Tank Gary a shot this season. I know there are wrestle offs, but Orndorf has been less than impressive IMO.

GTG hasn't performed that well in his extra matches.

Gary went 1-2 on the year and lost to Rutgers backup and beat WI backup by 1. In his match against Iowa he Injury defaulted out so could be hurt.

I know Tate hasn’t wrestled great but he isn’t losing to scrubs

#2 Paris who has bonus in every match
#3 Cassioppi only lost was to #1
# 13 Hillger tried a throw and got caught
# 10 Luffman
#10 Nevills

My thoughts. I didn’t actually fill out a bracket, so hopefully my projected matchups are possible based on the pre-seeds.

125 (7) – Perfect spot for Malik. I could easily see him in the finals.
Quarters – Lee over DeAugustino, Schroder over Cronin, Malik over Howard, Foley over McKee
Finals – Lee over Malik
3rd – Schroder over Foley
5th – DeAugustino over McKee
7th – Ragusin over Cronin

133 (7) – Decatur has a shot at qualifying. Needs to win one match he’s not favored in, likely over Medley or Dryden.
Quarters – RBY over Decatur, DeSanto over Dryden, Alvarez over Medley, Cannon over Byrd
Finals – RBY over DeSanto
3rd – Cannon over Alvarez
5th – Byrd over Dryden
7th – Decatur over Medley

141 (7) – Dylan is seeded to qualify, and I definitely think he can.
Quarters – Eirman over Mattin, Lee over D’Emilio, Rivera over Polanco, Red over Duncan
Finals – Rivera over Eirman
3rd – Lee over Red
5th – Duncan over D’Emilio
7th – Polanco over Mattin

149 (6) – Sammy is the clear favorite, and I think he brings home a title.
Quarters – Sammy over Rooks, Murin over Lovett, Bartlett over Parriott, Thomas over Storr
Finals – Sammy over Murin
3rd – Lovett over Bartlett
5th – Thomas over Parriott
7th – Storr over Rooks

157 (7) – Cleary has a shot. He has been in 1-2 point matches with 5-8, so all he needs is a hot weekend and he’s in.
Quarters – Deakin over Cleary, Young over Saldate, Lee over Lewan, Coleman over Berge
Finals – Deakin over Young
3rd – Coleman over Lee
5th – Berge over Saldate
7th – Lewan over Cleary

165 (7) – Smith could definitely make a run to the finals. In fact, that is what I am calling.
Quarters – Marinelli over Tucker, Braunagel over Robb, Smith over Lee, Sparks over Amine
Finals – Marinelli over Smith
3rd – Braunagel over Lee
5th – Robb over Sparks
7th – Amine over Tucker

174 (7) – I don’t mind Kaleb being the 6. I’d rather be on the bottom half of the bracket than the top.
Quarters – Kemerer over Allar, Labriola over Hughes, Romero over Starocci, Massa over Washington
Finals – Kemerer over Romero
3rd – Massa over Labriola
5th – Starocci over Washington
7th – Krattiger over Hughes

184 (7) – Another good landing spot for a Buckeye, as Rocky gets an opponent he beat to start and then an overseeded wrestler in the semis. Another Buckeye who could make an unexpected finals run with a good day.
Quarters – Brooks over Brands, Weiler over Jordan, Venz over Malczewski, Poznanski over Webster
Finals – Brooks over Venz
3rd – Weiler over Brands
5th – Jordan over Webster
7th – Lyon over Braunagel

197 (5) – This might be the toughest weight for the Bucks to qualify because of the lack of allocations. Hoping for a good showing and maybe an at large here.
Quarters – Schultz over Hoffman, Amine over Beard, Warner over Penola, Caffey over Davidson
Finals – Amine over Schultz
3rd – Caffey over Warner
5th – Beard over Hoffman
7th – Penola over Janzer

285 (6) – Tate needs to wrestle his best, and that still might not be good enough. Crazy that the B1G only got 6 spots here. The top 4 could easily be top 4 at NCAAs. The B1G could honestly fill the AA stand all by itself if you put the top 8 all in the bracket.
Quarters – Steveson over Orndorff, Parris over Kerkvliet (I CAN’T WAIT TO SEE THIS MATCHUP), Cassioppi over Hillger, Lance over Luffman
Finals – Steveson over Parris
3rd – Kerkvliet over Cassioppi
5th – Hillger over Lance
7th – Orndorff over Luffman

Luke, I have to believe that the coaching staff gave Gary every opportunity to win the heavy weight spot. Performance I matched is just one indicator to evaluate a guy’s ability to step into the lineup. I also don’t think this version of Gary was the same guy we saw a year ago. He was notably heavier, 30 pounds from what I heard. He appeared slower and less offensive as well. Add to that a loss to Singletary in the most recent wrestle off and your left with a version of GtG that existed prior to last season...a serviceable backup.

Jason, love the run down. I’m not quite as optimistic as you at a couple of weights, but I’m absolutely rooting for your predictions to come true. Go Bucks

Jason, nice breakdown. Not much of an indifference here. I'd say the my only prediction that MAY be a stretch is that im taking Starocci to win 174.

Can anyone explain how at-large bids work this year? I'm confused on the number of spots available per weight if you don't get in automatically.

Don't love Malik hitting Howard early if that's accurate with bracketing. The upward trajectory of PSU true freshmen is usually substantial.

Eierman, Lee & Rivera at 141 is insane for a conference tourney.

Agree. Howard is an AA candidate.

Starocci is good but won't catch anyone offguard. And he won't touch Kemmerer. That guy is head and shoulders above a very good field.

Romero, if healthy, will be in the thick of it. He was wrestling very well until hurting his ankle. I like him to place top five at NCAA's.

The B1G is the toughest/deepest conference in the country. These seeds are crazy deep!
