Discussion Topic: End of the Big XII?

With the rumors of Texas and Oklahoma leaving for the SEC I’m certain this will move NCAA football closer to a regionalized format for playoffs. As other conferences pick the BiG XII conference carcass for teams I’m curious how this impacts wrestling. Technically, since the SEC is lame and has no wrestling, I wonder if the Big XII stays intact for just wrestling. They did just add Missouri back this year. I think it makes more sense for wrestling to potentially move to a four region format based off of participation. Kind of like the NCAA basketball tourney. Thoughts?

4 regionalized, don't like it, too constricting, too regimented. ...Big 12 will exist for wrestling with the biggies OKst, OK, Iowa St, Missou and a catch all of others who want to compete at high level like Utah Valley st and N. Colorado.
let schools that welcome wrestling migrate to conferences that emphasize wrestling, in Missouri's case they are doing that. Flexiblity needed to keep the sport strong.

Big Ten asleep at the wheel. Again.
I really dislike all the conference realignment but it’s the future. Big Ten should have chased these two programs.
I read an article saying ESPN was a player in this which makes me sick.

Where does this put Missouri? I guess I have to get regionalism out of my head. It only appears to matter to traditionalist. The sad fact is Notre Dame (which is only relevant in TV land) will continue to be pursued by the BiG, and the conference will continue to play reactionary maneuvers once the SEC acts.

N Dame in ACC just for football, they have no problem (other than Clemson).
Missouri is fine, SEC for FB and Big 12 for wrestling. ... flexibility works.
don't need 4 regions, conference tradition & rivalries should be preserved, they make college sports.

Not sure I understand the big ten bashing. Oklahoma is not an AAU member. They tried to get Texas before and it didn't work. The big ten is not in bed with ESPN. They were never going to go after both in a package deal, which to be honest sounds a little like Texas and Oklahoma colluded together.
There are plenty of options for the big ten to pursue if they want to..... Virginia, North Carolina, Iowa State.....maybe even some pac 10 schools.

Am I behind the times? I thought Mizzou was in the MAC for wrestling?

Mizzou announced a few months ago that they were going back to the Big 12.
