Lee is forgoing the remainder of the season to opt for surgery. I’m curious if we elects to come back with a medical redshirt. It sounds like he would qualify. The team race just got real interesting.

By the tone of his announcement it did not sound like he would wrestle in college again. I wonder if he will have both knees done? I know he said the newer injury did not respond to rehab as well. If the the first injury isn't 100% maybe do that one as well since he will be on the shelf anyway?

His replacement could be true freshman Drake Ayala who is a stud and just took 3rd at Southern Scuffle and beat #13 Missouri kid twice and almost beat AA Mckee

Ayala had McKee. Freaking had him!!!!
Drake Ayala is a household name at the Niemann residence. Fell in love with him at a Flo event last year. Watch him every chance we get, my boy and I do.

Ayala is fun to watch.
Watching the McKee match, like most true freshmen he needs to learn how to finish and get off bottom against college vets, which he will with time and experience
He seems like a 4X high-AA, which makes me think they may keep him in RS this season. I’ll call Tom and report back.

Just saw Willy pose a question about where he’ll place at NCAA. Which likely means my opinion was wrong less than 1 minute after I typed it.

And for the record, I could see 6-8, or even a bloodround finish for the freshman.

I saw an interview Spencer did with local media. Double knee surgery right out of the gate. He will be wheel chair bound for a period of time. That’s pretty intense. As stated above, he has committed to returning for his final year. I’d have to imagine that he doesn’t touch a mat competitively until January or February.

Ayala is solid but the Scuffle was not exactly murderer's row at 125. Does anyone think he's a sure bet to beat a healthy Heinselman? I'll take MH. And no one is certain Malik will AA. In other words, don't overreact to one performance.
Team race wise, Iowa is in trouble given that PSU usually overachieves.
