Discussion Topic: Is Rosselli nearing an end in Norman?
Jared Ball added to this discussion on February 5, 2022
Dom Demas just entered the transfer portal, and the Sooners appear no better off than when Lou took the helm several years ago. I would find it hard to believe that the Oklahoma faithful are content with their current status. If the plug gets pulled on sweet Lou, if you’re Tom Ryan do you bring back Lou to rejoin the staff?

at the expense of who, who is out under your scenario?

I’m not sure someone has to be out. At one point, prior to Covid, you had Jags, Tervel, Bo, and Logan all on the payroll of either the university or the RTC. I recognize that also occurred when the Bucks had a more successful RTC squad. Maybe there isn’t space anymore, who knows. All I know is that the program benefited hugely from Lou’s presence.

What about Demas? Should OSU be pursuing him?

agree on Rosselli's value. .....but a year ago Logan took Tervel's slot as full-time coach on Ryans staff. Before that he was a limited volunteer coach not permitted to recruit off-campus. He was also co-head coach with Tervel of the Ohio RTC simply because priority one was KEEPING him here, he had to have compensation. (I know he was in the process of developing a youth club)
The face of Ohio St wrestling could not be lost. So now Logan is a full-time coach AND head of the RTC. Thus unless Bo or J --or Ryan-- leave there is no opening for Rosselli.

Was Demas already wrestling this year? How much eligibility does he have left?

Demas makes no sense for Bucks unless he's at 141. I think Rosselli is a good coach but he's not a salesman. He'd make a good head guy for a "minor" D1 program. Otherwise, his ideal role was the one he had in Columbus. Honestly, I think he's more suited as a head RTC guy. Maybe he should head to Colorado Springs if there's an opening?

Looking at themat.com, the speculation there is that Demas can no longer make 141. If that is the case, then he's a 149 and we have one of those.

Yeah, Demas might be a better fit at CSU or KSU. OU looks like their pretty well stocked this year.

Demas is a RS senior and he has been injured the last few weeks, unless he has an extra "Covid year", he only has a little over a month left in his college career, right?. I thought maybe he would windup with his brother Josh, but I don't think he is assistant coaching anywhere, last stop was Old Dominion.

Wait a second. Are we saying that on Feb 7, likely a month after classes started for the 2nd semester at most universities, an athlete can transfer and compete in this season?
Is this is accurate, I no longer understand college sports.
Having said that, I wonder if he qualifies for the extra year of eligibility and can compete next season?
Either way - hope for a good end to his fine career.

Everyone got a "Covid" year.
Best I can tell, Demas has one more year remaining after this season, if he wants it. It appears he does. He was a RS junior last year, which makes him a RS junior this year.
Last season did not count against eligibility.
And, no, he cannot compete for another school this season.

Drew - thank you for the clarification.
With this in mind, he should follow his old coach Hunter Stieber to Athens, OH.
