Shumate at 184 and no Geog. Feldman is dealing with an injury.

Hepner beat Amine 6-4
Shumate beat Pozanski 7-6. I believe he is a former AA for Rutgers.

And Hepner beat AA(4th) Cam Amine 6-4 at 165. He had a ton of riding time!

Hepner beats Kharchla in the wrestle-off, beats #4 kid in the country. He deserves a shot. Sorry Carson, get healthy see you next year at 174.

Excellent win for Hepner, but unless Carson’s badly injured, Rob’s overreacting.

Which lineup is better!
165 Hepner
174 Carson
Or
165 Carson
174 Smith
If Carson wants to go 174 why not wrestle off for it if allegedly the weight cut is so bad.

I am glad Shumate did well at 184, he can concentrate at being at that weight next year when Smith & Romero leave. Geog and Hoffman will have to settle the 197 question. One other thing, Bouzakis was good down at 133, but riding with the arm bar and not getting any turns was driving me nuts, considering his coach is the "King of Arm bars". Surely Logan is working with this kid, now is the time to fine tune the hold with the freshman.

I don't think so. There is concrete evidence that Hepner should be the guy here. What has Carson done this year to make you think otherwise? We forfeited this weight in yesterday's dual, Carson has a couple head scratching losses, few notable wins. No reaction whatsoever- just making a statement with strong evidence to back it.

Kharchla has defeated Amine as well as other former AA's. He also has a freestyle win over Mekhi Lewis. One win in an Open plus a wrestleoff victory is just not that convincing. However, credit to Hepner. He appears to be making a lot of improvement.

Key takeaway for me from this event is the continued progress of CSU. Two champs, both fairly unheralded recruits out of HS.
12 total placers.
Granted, it was their event so likely everyone competed, but still encouraging. I see improvement under Coach Moore.
