3:00 pm on Big Ten plus. Should be lots of great matches.
WEEKEND PROBABLES
#13 Northwestern
125: #7 Michael DeAugustino (3-4)
133: #12 Chris Cannon (13-5)
141: #13 Frankie Tal-Shahar (5-4)
149: #4 Yahya Thomas (17-1)
157: #13 Trevor Chumbley (19-4)
165: #15 Maxx Mayfield (20-7)
174: #18 Troy Fisher (15-4)
184: Evan Bates (11-13)
197: HM Andrew Davison (14-10)
285: #4 Lucas Davison (15-2)

#4 Ohio State
125: #10 Malik Heinselman (18-2)
133: #10 Jesse Mendez (11-1)
141: HM Dylan D'Emilio (12-6)
149: #3 Sammy Sasso (18-2)
157: #24 Paddy Gallagher (8-4)
165: #10 Carson Kharchla (8-2)
174: #6 Ethan Smith (14-3) -OR- Isaac Wilcox (12-5)
184: #5 Kaleb Romero (19-3)
197: #15 Gavin Hoffman (15-4)
285: #15 Tate Orndorff (9-3)

There is certainly an outside possibility that the Bucks could get in some hot water with an upset or two. Malik has looked great but he hasn’t had a great track record against Deaugustino. Likewise Cannon and Tal-Shahar are tough outs as well. I think the Bucks can’t take three of the first four weights but I’m not shocked if that guess gets flipped in reverse. Sammy always has tight bouts with Ya-Ya but has owned the series. Paddy and Carson have not had a great last couple of weeks. I don’t know a ton about NW’s 157 but Paddy has no ranked wins over guys in the top 15, so that doesn’t exactly bode well. I’m thinking Carson gets back on track and Ethan takes care of business. I’m curious if we see Kaleb. If he doesn’t go I’m not sure who steps in. We need Gavin to put up some points and Tate not to get bonused. The Bucks on paper should win, but if there is any kind of PSU hangover they could lose this dual.

BTW. I think you could safely consider Wilcox done for a bit. Being on crutches and having your leg wrapped from hip to ankle doesn’t look like he will be available anytime soon. Ohio State seems to have lots of injury issues related to knees this year. Malik, Dylan, Paddy, Carson, Ethan, and Isaac have all sported some heavy duty knee braces at some point this year. Practice must be a war every day

The ways and angles the knees are bent in various scrambles in this era of wrestling is disconcerting to me. I speculate as a 50 year old that no long term good comes out of this...

Just watched a Flo post dual interview with Tom Ryan. He suggests there's a good chance we will see Shumate and Geog in the lineup today due to injuries.

I am actually hoping we get to see Shumate and Geog go today. It would be a good test for them.

Everytime I see an official allow for some of the positions they permit, I cringe.
There is NO way these guys will not have issues as they age.
I hope it is worth it.

Great match!

Nice redemption for Paddy. Hopefully that gives him some confidence and he can start winning these matches against ranked guys.

Buckeyes are all wrestling better from bottom.

Agree. Good bounceback after PSU. NW is good and the Bucks just battled their way from victory to victory.

Is it just me or is Chris Cannon a HUGE 133?

Hank, I thought the same of DeAugustino at 125. Huge. That was to Malik’s disadvantage as the dual ended with their match and DeAugustino had more time to recover than usual.

Good win for the Bucks. They are wrestling well at all but two or three weights.

Deaugustino is also enormous. I am sure they started the match at 133 to give him recovery time.
