I'm for Paddy; he's still young and we're still early.

Great news. Both did enough during the regular season to warrant the at large bids (not to state the obvious). For Paddy it’s a second chance. Let’s hope he gets on a roll and knocks some guys off. He’s likely to be paired with a high seed pretty early on.
Not sure what to make of Hoffman. He clearly had a very difficult draw and then did not compete on day two. He didn’t outwardly appear to have any specific injuries. Clearly he was not firing on all cylinders. I’m not sure what version of Gavin we are getting. He was the 21 seed last year. He is likely entering at a similar place but with a different trajectory.
From a team perspective nine guys provides lots of point scoring opportunities. If both Paddy and Gavin can put up points it bodes well for the bucks. Pairings are released tonight!

Hoffman was very close to beating Allred in the quarters. That's the difference between having a good or bad BT tourney. Allred somehow evaded a position that looked like a very late TD for Hoffman and then ends up winning in the finals.
Someone told me recently about all the injuries Paddy has had to work through going back to high school. He's been slowed down a lot over the last few years. No doubt he overtrained when he was younger and it's caught up to him. For him to have sustained success, he's going to need to stay healthy which is easier said than done.

Great thing about wrestling is that most people remember what you did at NCAAs and little else.
All those bumps in the road are forgotten if you perform well.
Interested to see how Rocky Jordan finishes.
AOC really impresses me. Dude finished out as AA last year wrestling on one knee.
Very few can do that when taking on sharks.
Looking forward to Haines v AOC if it comes to fruition. Both have that quality of mistake free wrestling and ability to score when needed. Different offenses but same aptitude.

Agree that this could be a stellar matchup. But there's one hard/fast rule at the NCAA's: always bet on Penn State.
