Discussion Topic: Jesse Mendez--NCAA Champ?

The version of "Menace Mendez" I watched in Vegas looks like a bonafide title contender. He beat three top ten caliber opponents and only one kept it to a decision. Real Woods and Beau Bartlett will be formidable as well but my confidence is high he can beat anyone. As Rex mentioned, his finals takedown was basically Satan's version of a snap down where you bounce an opponents head off the mat so hard that he has no choice but to gather his thoughts while giving up 2.
Let's hope he remains healthy.
Incidentally, I brought this up because I don't think we're talking enough about how amazing he looked in Vegas.

I agree with this, Hank.
I watched his match against Jack I think from NC State.
My thought while watching was the score was close but Jack had zero percent chance to win. It was a dominant performance although the score wasn't lopsided. Jack had no chance to score and was running all match.
Woods is so defensive that Jesse will have to win close matches against him.
Mendes can win it.

His top game reminds me a lot of Logan's top game.
Same with some of the stuff Nic does as well.

Agreed. Just need to get to March healthy and hungry. That version in Vegas wins NCAAs next weekend.
Top 3 seeds coming from the Big 10.
Really looking forward to the head-to-head with Bartlett and Woods.
Tagen Jamison looks like another stud freshman to enter the mix. Could AA this year.

Stieber and Jaggers definitely have both influenced the style of these young men. If you are a stud HS recruit and project between 125 and 149, you'd be crazy for not coming to Columbus. (Marcus Blaze, I'm talking to you! :-)

I noticed Jesse was trying the Logan Stieber claw ride with holding the far wrist behind the back but just doesn't quite have it perfected yet, but I love that he is trying something new. It worked for Logan and it can work for Jesse.
