Discussion Topic: Gavin Hoffman out for the season

Tom Ryan announced it after the Illinois match. He didn’t reveal the nature of the injury. Tom then dropped another nugget. Seth Shumate, who replaced Hoffman in the lineup, recently had surgery.
This season has been rough on the veterans, beginning with Sammy and continuing with Kharchla, Gallagher, and now Hoffman.
Somehow the lineup remains formidable. Rocco looks great as a true frosh, and Wilcox is not your typical third-stringer. But please no more injuries.

Drew, I second that thought, please no more injuries! I was glad to see Feldmans huge black knee brace was downsized to a smaller white brace, which has to be a good sign (fingers crossed).

I'm sorry to hear about Hoffman. I remember how a couple years ago, he found his stride at 197 and got on the podium. Since then, he's had a lot of misfortune. All the best to him.

I think the one factor none of us are privy too is the health status of these wrestlers. They might be banged up and we can't figure out why they don't wrestle at a certain standard. I remember Mike Pucillo his senior year having trouble beating guys he teched the year before, not knowing he was wrestling hurt, but still wrestling.
