Discussion Topic: Streetsboro District Champ - DQed

I guess this kid won the District title, but got DQed for this since it was his second unsportsmanlike call of the tourney. I’m not privy to the circumstances surrounding the first call.
Thoughts?

Clearly a douche series of moves. If he just let's the kid up and shakes his hand, he goes to State(s).

Given the prior UC he should have been warned about another. — maybe he was.

Let’s hope he grows out of it. He is young.

Sad. And he did it to himself.

...and, States. :)

I was on the adjoining mat so I saw what happened in the finals very clearly. I want to add that I did not see the first USC call which was apparently in the semis.

As I told Brady, in 40+ years of officiating, I have NEVER seen anything close to the "show" that he put on. It started with using his opponent to push himself up off the mat. This could have been enough to warrant the call right there. He then proceeded to "dance" for the crowd, mug for the crowd, blow kisses to the crowd, and twirl his headgear like a lasso. It was so over the top that the official could not ignore it. What he was not aware of (and it should not matter) is that this was the second time for USC that day. Two USC calls carries the same weight as FMC and this was what caused the DQ.

He was talked to by one of the officials and one of his coaches after the first USC call so he was made aware of the consequences.

BTW, all of this was right in front of the OHSAA Director of Development (the highest ranking official in the state) and a couple of OHSAA observers.

I turned around after this fiasco only to hear a rush of the crowd toward the doors on the other end of the gym. I did not see what happened but I understand that the Streetsboro wrestler kept running his mouth as they left the gym and the Canton South kid finally had enough. I am told that they did not exchange blows.

There are LOTS of stories going around about how this is the norm for this wrestler. He is very talented but doesn't seem to have any degree of self control.

I can only speak to what I actually saw but the USC call that I witnessed was 100% deserved. Unfortunately it was not the only one.

Unfortunately it does not show anything after the first few seconds post match.
It got worse.
BTW, just skip to the end for the fireworks.
