Discussion Topic: Don Pritzlaff takes over Columbia

Pritzlaff has been instrumental in the rise of Rutgers wrestling and now he's taking on his own program. Columbia improved under Zach Tanelli; how far can Pritzlaff take them?

Of particular interest will be how well he fundraises. In today's D1 wrestling environment, Columbia would seem to have an alumni base that could provide significant resources.

Columbia has been improving in recent seasons. I love the hire. Feels like Donnie has gotten passed over more than he should have. The Wisconsin job was supposed to be his, but Barry Davis stayed on longer than anticipated. Consequently, Barry just came out of retirement to help out Kolat at the Naval Academy. Love the hire. I think Columbia has an interesting upside in that they also have Kendal Cross nearby running the NY RTC. I thought Helen Maroulis and Frank Chamizo were training there at some points.

I think it’s an odd move for Pritzlaff.

Quote from Ben Golden's post:

"I think it’s an odd move for Pritzlaff."

What's odd is that he didn't get a chance to take over at Wiscy or Rutgers. He was clearly a better coach than an aging Barry Davis or Scott Goodale. My opinion of course.

Agreed. Those programs were night and day with/without him.
