Who are the top unsigned seniors? Any info on where they're headed?

Going off the InterMat rankings, the only big name that I am not sure of is Spicel.

Any info on the following? (a few names I pulled from memory)

Tom Pretty - Elder
Dan Genetin - Massillon Perry
Josh Speelman - Mansfield Madison (heard OU, not sure)
Neil Birt - St. Edward
Caleb Messerall - Worthington (heard OSU, not sure)
Eric Gobin - Archbishop Moeller
Ricky King - Benedictine
Mike Baxter - Perkins
Tieler Severance - Sheridan
Danny Michaels - Clyde
Jeremy Foster - Eastwood (Football?)
Tyler Hawkins - West Holmes

Anyway, there are a ton of other names that I believe warrant D1 or D2 partial scholarship consideration. Its always interesting to see where these kids who didn't sign early end up.

Spicel remains unsigned. If I was Kent, OU, or CSU, I would throw whatever I had at that kid (Although maybe not OU, they have plenty of guys around his weight already, but Kent or CSU, ya).

Pat - I have zero insight, but the Edinboro coach mentioned Spicel on his interview on Flo from the state tournament.

Spicel is a diamond!!! Mills (University) is another one. Is Foster chooses to play football, I hope he does great things on the gridiron. Lord knows he would have done tremendous things on the mat.

Good luck to all these guys. I hope things work out on and/or off the mat.

Mills is a junior. Have Witt or Messerall signed?

Witt signed with Kent State.

MILLS IS A JUNIOR?!?!

That kid is amazing! If I were a college coach in the Columbus area... say at a DI Big Ten school... I'd at least give him a call, a visit, or a shirt!!! Something to let this kid know that the room would love his skills.

But hey, that's just if I were a DI Big Ten coach in Columbus.

I would think that Danny Michaels would follow his brother at CSU. IMO, I don't know for sure.

Mills is a tough kid, and, obviously, I am a fan of his. He would be an improvement over what we currently have stocked up for 174 (with the exception of Magrum, I don't see him making 174 for more than one year), but he still isn't a long term solution. I would love to see a Prepper in a Buckeyes uniform, and I think Mills could provide a temporary fix, but if I know Tom Ryan, he has grand visions for 174, and every other weight class.

Off topic a bit but...

One of the best 174 prospects for next year's high school Sr class is Ed Ruth from PA. He's quick, strong and recently won NHSCA Juniors. He gave Quentin Wright a very tough match at PA states and has defeated a number of highly regarded 171's. He also beat Chris Phillips at Disney Duals last summer.

I'd suggest that interested persons go to Flowrestling and watch him compete. I think this kid has the physical talent to be a monster collegiate wrestler and would love to see the Bucks get him. My only concern is that he's likely to outgrow 174.

Re: Buckeye 174...

If only we had a top-notch 160-pounder in Ohio that was from a reputable program that dominated the state of Ohio and had great national credentials, such as winning the Super 32 over NHSCA Senior National champion Scott Winston or becoming an All-American in the Junior Freestyle competition at Fargo...

The Division 3 state champion at heavyweight, Don Stocum from Kirtland, was one of the top prospects in the state. In fact the school that communicated with him most was Oklahoma. Ohio State and others put their hands in the mix as well.

However, he has decided to commit to wrestle at Notre Dame on a great scholarship package. NDC (who is loaded with Crenshaw, Koballa, Straughn, and more coming) will be the NAIA National Champs while Don is there and he will be a big part of that success.

Congrats, Don! Signing day will be awesome.

Not sure you were gonna get him away from Central...if you're talking about Cubberly. His brother is there and his dad and him have nothing but great things to say about the coach and the program.
