With Ohio state already redshirting Davino and Welsh the staff should deeply consider redshirting Feldman. He can still go wrestle the big meets against Penn state and Iowa still. 285 only got tougher this year and he’s not beating Kirkvliet, Hendrickson, or Steveson. Fourth place is probably his ceiling. His freshman year should qualify as a medical I’m sure. Let the weight class completely clear out and go for three titles. Iowa and Oklahoma state lose a lot of points this year also.

Feldman's freshman year red shirt wasn't a medical.

Even if his freshman year was considered a medical redshirt, he has wrestled attached this year, so he cannot redshirt anymore.
The five (5) free matches only apply to true freshman.

I thought anyone could use that five matches my bad. I wonder if gable would have announced earlier if he would have competed. And why wouldn’t his freshman year have counted as a medical? He literally had a very severe injury and never competed.

While many wrestlers are heavily favored in matches, that doesn’t mean they can’t be beaten. I’ll bet Nick F. thinks he can win those matches.

I wouldn't hate if Nick redshirts this year. No one is beating Gable and if he really tears Nick apart, that could hurt confidence/motivation moving forward. Gable is that good he could get point bomus victories over just about anyone.

Well, as already stated, Feldman has competed attached and thus can't redshirt.
Even if he could, while Swenski is a nice backup, he's not Carson or Bouzakis.
Feldman has already achieved AA. Last year he improved massively throughout the season and didn't really hit his stride until after the break.
I don't buy the "hurt his confidence" concept for him, either. He's been beaten badly before and come back stronger each time. Look at his three matches vs. Kerkvliet last year, for example.

He’s not beating Gable let’s all be honest. While I think he could have a chance against Kirkvliet or Wyatt he is still quite the underdog. Bastida I think he is a slight underdog and then the next group of five guys he is probably even with. Shultz, ghaelihi, Trimble, Kueter, and Trephan. It’s just a very deep weight class that largely clears out after this season. While I still think he will AA I wouldn’t be surprised if he finished lower this year or even r12 this year. Kueter is a world champion and Trimble battled Snyder at trials. After this year the weight class gets much much easier.
But everyone already claims it’s too late so I guess this discussion is meaningless. The staff probably thought he had a real chance before Gable came back. I wish he announced a little earlier. That all star match concerned me somewhat as I thought he would jump levels and beat that kid pretty easily.

Feldman already used his redshirt two seasons ago. He doesn’t get another one.
Medical hardships are granted when an athlete is injured and loses a year of eligibility. Feldman got hurt in 2022-23 but he didn’t lose a year of eligibility because he redshirted.
Also, those hardships are awarded at the back end of a career. They aren’t available to use at one’s discretion.
There are a lot of things off with this post. Simply put, Feldman can’t redshirt.

You can use a medical redshirt before a regular redshirt from everything I have been reading.
Yes, you can "medical redshirt" before a regular redshirt in wrestling, meaning if you suffer a significant injury early in your first collegiate season that prevents you from competing for most of the year, you can apply for a medical redshirt to preserve your eligibility for a full four years of competition, even if the initial plan was to redshirt that season without an injury.
That’s what it says on google. He couldn’t even practice. He should still be rewarded a redshirt whenever he wanted to use it. Maybe I’m wrong but I think if he applied for a medical redshirt it would be granted and still able to use a redshirt.

Yes, in wrestling, you can typically use a medical redshirt if you miss a significant portion of the season due to injury, and then later utilize a regular redshirt in a subsequent season, essentially giving you an extra year of eligibility to compete without burning a year of competition.
Key points about using a medical and regular redshirt in wrestling:
Medical Redshirt:
If you suffer a major injury during the season that prevents you from competing for a substantial amount of time, you can apply for a medical redshirt, which essentially pauses your eligibility clock for that year.
Regular Redshirt:
After using a medical redshirt, you can still choose to take a regular redshirt in a later season if you want to further develop your skills or strategically position yourself within the team lineup.
NCAA Regulations:
The specific rules regarding redshirting, including medical redshirts, are governed by the NCAA and can vary slightly depending on the division
