Echemendia is out also.

Primary starters for The Buckeyes. Just my guessing.

125- McCrone
133- Bouzakis
141-Jesse
149 D'Emilio
157-Gallagher
165-Sasso
174-Kharchla
184-Shumate
197-Rogtozke
285- Swenski

Only putting this out because I really have no clue if Welsh is no unleashed to wrestle.

My ideal situation would be Welsh at 184 and Kharchla at 174. See who the stronger candidate is then between Shumate and Rogtozke to take Geog's spot at 197.

Jaggers gave Zeb Miller an interview at grade school OACs this past weekend and indicated that 174-285 is a mess right now. Said Feldman should be back and sounded like Geog is still out but will be back eventually. So no season ending stuff. Don’t think we see Davino until January, but I was surprised to see Birden. ISU is a mess with injuries. Bastida is out for the year. Enchemendia is out for a while as well as some key others.

I saw where Connor Euton ISU, from Westerville North is out for the season. I thought he looked pretty good in the dual he wrestled. Wrestling is a brutal sport. I wish it could be just really about building toughness and resiliency without all the injuries. Seems an incapable task of divorcing the two.

Per OSU website:
125-No. 6 Brendan McCrone (R-So.) or Vinni Kilkeary (R-Fr.)
133-No. 7 Nic Bouzakis (R-So.) or Ben Davino (Fr.)
141-No. 2 Jesse Mendez (Jr.)
149-No. 12 Dylan D'Emilio (Gr.) or Gavin Brown (R-So.)
157-No. 7 Paddy Gallagher (R-Jr.) or Brandon Cannon (So.)
165-No. 11 Sammy Sasso (Gr.) or Brock Herman (R-Fr.)
174-No. 15 Carson Kharchla (Gr.) or e'Than Birden (Fr.)
184-Seth Shumate (R-So.) or Gavin Bell (R-Sr.)
197-No. 15* Ryder Rogotzke (So.) or Cayaen Smith (Fr.)
285-No. 8 Nick Feldman (R-So.) or Hogan Swenski (R-Jr.)

Looking forward to seeing the RS and second stringers wrestle, especially Davino and Cannon. Perfect time to use them in a grueling 3 match stretch on Saturday. Go Bucs!

Where's Rocco Welsh?

Wasn't that the entire point of the negotiation?

They want him to redshirt, he says he doesn't want to. He goes and gets a competing bid, they agree to pay him more to stay on.

Would seem kinda silly to pull his redshirt now that you already agreed to pay him to keep it, especially with Rogotzke already burning his eligibility.

Ryan clears the air with Flo. Rocco was always on board with redshirting, Ryan says. Sounds like other schools tried to poach him and the Bucks ultimately won out.

Also good stuff on Birden and Rogotzke. Both weighed in light for the Pitt dual and lost tight bouts to good opponents. Rogotzke returned to practice from elbow surgery the day before the dual. He’s very easy to root for.

I tried to link the story but can’t from the app. Go to Flo and you’ll find it. These weekly reports on the Bucks are nice for us junkies.

Good stuff Drew. Any insight on a Geog return? Curious to see how Shumate looks at 184 moving forward and if he can hold that spot down, Rogotzke would then be the odd man out.

Story indicates Geog will be back at some point. That’s great news because I like what I’ve seen from him this season. Before the injury in Vegas he was on his way to a win over the Northwestern guy. That guy finished second. Until Geog returns, 197 I guess goes to Rogotzke. There’s not really another option now that Shumate cut to 184.

Long season ahead. Nationals still three months out. Hopefully injuries heal fast and no new ones pop up.

They got it fixed, came in at 141 but rewound back to 125. Cannon at 165 was incredible, and he weight in at 157. Vinny needs more offense, I can see why they go with McCrone. Davino shuts out a 2-time NCAA qualifier, nice smart match and a good ride, nice to see.
