Discussion Topic: Early returns from Stillwater - Taylor can coach

Just dismantling good teams.

Oregon State: 36-3
Wyoming: 32-6
AZ State: 33-6
Oklahoma: 35-3
Virginia Tech: 34-9

Ran through the very tough field at CKLV.

Obviously it's early but my over reaction is this is the one program with the one coach with the one alumni base that can challenge Cael/PSU the next decade.

Oklahoma state is a team where a ton of points are coming out of the transfer portal. They also have 7 seniors in the lineup and not nearly the depth Ohio state has. Ohio state graduates only demilio and sasso and have backups that are just as good. Ohio state will be more of a threat over the next two years. Next year davino, bouzakis,Rocco, Feldman, Mendez could all be finalist type wrestlers. Then add in mccrone, paddy, cannon, Geog, Rotogotzke, kharchla.

Oklahoma state will get there but probably a few years away as his recruits are just now coming in next year. Spratley is the only big part returning. I honestly think it comes down to Forrest/ Bassett recruitment as the next to challenge. I believe Ohio State and Oklahoma State are the teams to beat for both. Bassett and Forrest are types of wrestlers who will get recruits to follow.

6 out of 10 {60%} of the starters for Ok. St. are transfers. Time will tell if Taylor is the next coming of Cael Sanderson. This is what NIL and transfer portal has done to college sports.

The transfer portal, by itself, was a good idea. Guys like the Decatur brothers weren't breaking the starting lineup and they transferred to other schools where they could start. The NIL has gotten out of hand. It's ironic that the NCAA went from 9.9 scholarship limit to a virtual money free for all with the NIL.

Taylor’s early success is largely but not entirely from transfers. But he’s also recruiting well out of high school. He’s off to a great start.

The Bucks notably are in on four blue chippers that Taylor also wants - Bassett, Forrest, Waters and Mocco.
