Hawkeye is always tough to wrestle at but should be a very good matchup

Mccrone vs Cruz. Mccrone by Dec 3-0. Could see bonus here

Ayala vs bouzakis. I think it’s a coin flip but Hawkeye gives Ayala the Dec 3-3

Mendez vs block Mendez by fall. He knows he will need all the points. 9-3

Demilio vs parco. Parco by Dec. 9-6

Estrada vs Sammy. Sasso by Dec 12-6

Paddy vs caliendo. Caleniendo by Dec 12-9

Kennedy vs kharchla. Coin flip which favors home team 12-12

Ferrari vs Rotogotzke. I’m calling they wrestle him bc it’s a big dual. Ferarri by md. 16-12

Buchanan vs Shumate. Buchanan by md 20-12

Feldman vs Kueter. Feldman by Dec 20-15 Iowa I have it.

Ohio state needs to win 133 or 165 probably to win this dual. I gave both tossups bc of it being at carver Hawkeye. Bouzakis did win a bracket that Ayala was in this summer. Mccrone also can get a pin/major. Kueter/ Feldman may be a NCAA finals preview in a year or two also.

McCrone is trending in the wrong direction. Since his torrid start to the year in December his quality of competition has gone up, and he hasn’t fared as well. He is 1-3 to start January with maybe only one takedown in four matches. All of D1 knows he’s tough on top and limited in neutral. He was in the Ramos match but got his doors blown off by Pederson. The Cruz match should be winnable but I wonder if the environment and his confidence tips the match in Iowa’s favor.
The Bousakis / Ayala match reminds me of Nic’s match with Nagao last year. He is the underdog but let’s keep in mind that Drake is coming up a weight. I think Nic’s power plays a role here. I think he takes an early lead over Ayala. The question is can he hang on. Avoid the slide by’s and I think he can score the W. Nic has been subject to slide by’s in the past, maybe he has corrected that
The match I’ll be looking at is Carson v Kennedy. I believe Carson is more technical but Kennedy has a crazy motor. Could make it interesting. I also think Ryder will wrestle Gabe Arnold not Ferrari. Arnold is not a good matchup for Rygotske.

I think Arnold or Ferrari md Rotogotzke. I just said Ferrari bc in Iowas last big time dual they wrestled Ferrari against Iowa state and may be using one of his 5 for the buckeyes.

If I’m Tom Ryan I wrestle Davino.

Mccrone has only lost to top 10 guys. Cruz has a bunch of bad losses but you never know what can happen at Iowa.

I wonder how many more matches Davino has left on his RS? BTW I thiught Paddy looked good at 165, I can't remember the last time he pinned anyone, or even tried. Hope he keeps it up.

Jack, Ben Davino has used four events so he has one event left

Ben is 17-1 and has wrestled national duals, Franklin and Marshall, clarion, and midlands leaving him one more.

Iowa is a winnable dual so I would use it here. I trust him more than Bouzakis to pull it off. Penn state is not winnable so no use to use it then. Also then them scout Bouzakis and surprise them with Davino.

He actually may have two more. If he wrestled unattached I don’t think it counts. I believe if it was after first semester you can wrestle unattached without using an event. I believe Franklin and Marshall and midlands may have been unattached. So national duals and clarion may have been his only events but not exactly sure. Regardless he has somewhere between 1-3 more he can wrestle attached.

Bucks need to wrestle out of their minds to have a chance. The only sure win is Mendez. McCrone and Feldman are slight favorites. Everyone else is an underdog.

Bouzakis should get the nod over Davino. He’s improved in reducing dumb mistakes and is knocking on the door of a big win following the narrow Byrd and Shawver losses. Let him keep cooking. Plus, the upgrade with Davino is minimal.

Iowa will be looking for bonus at 165, 184, and 197.

D’Emilio upsetting Parco wouldn’t shock me. Dylan is wrestling well.

Bucks have Nic or Davino.

Sasso or Cannon vs Teemer.

Listening to Tom Ryan's presser it sounds like Davino is the guy Saturday. At least that's my impression.

And according to TR Davino has 2 more matches left on his RS. It's really confusing to me but I'll take his word for it. I would like to see where Ben stands with the #3 guy.

Ohio state I feel will wrestle davino. Tom has this dual marked on his calendar. What I would do if I were Ohio State.

Davino wrestle 133.. best chance to win
Bouzakis wrestle 141… Bouzakis definitely the favorite here
Mendez wrestle 149…. Steal a weight we would normally lose.

Won’t happen but would love to see it. That Parco Mendez match would be worth admission alone.

That would be tempting, and if Davino loses just keep Jesse and DD at their usual weights.

Bumping up is for high school. Though often floated, it doesn’t really happen in college.

Best chance for success looks like Mendez going 141 and getting a pin and Bouzakis/Davino or D’Emilio pulling an upset.

Nick’s plan could very well lead to three losses.

The only reason not to wrestle Bouzakis is to try and protect his seed for Big Tens. He has losses to Shawver and Byrd already. I think Bouzakis is more likely to beat Ayala.

At 133 Davino has one loss to Shawver only because Shawver stalled for 9 min and got it to the double ot ride out and lost by a second of riding time. Bouzakis got taken down by Shawver, Davino didn’t. And beat bouzakis head to head. Bouzakis has a tendency to choke also. I wrestle Davino regardless at 133. Tom wouldn’t put or if he didn’t plan using him. I feel pretty certain he is going at 133.

141 bouzakis would be the favorite here. Both guys are outside the top 50 per wrestlestat with losses to guys outside the top 50. They even had overtime matches with guys who were barely in top 100. They are very thin here. I think Bouzakis has a bigger tank also at 141

149 Mendez has beat Yianni, James green,McKenna and Allirez. All better guys than Parco. And took Retherford to the brink after Retherford got a triple bye. Mendez also to me is the favorite here. If you win this match it’s a 6 point swing.

Not exactly impressive resumes at 141

If teemer is wrestling this may be the only way to win the dual imo but it won’t happen. Just some creative thought

Iowa beats OSU 24-13. 50% of Iowa's team are transfers.
18 of the 24 points were from the 5 transfers. Thanks NIL, thanks NCAA. They need to change their nickname from Hawkeyes to Hired Guns.

Man! I do not post often. I guess I’m posting to hear how everyone thinks about this match that was within reach. So disappointing to watch (seemingly) every important dual slip between the fingers. Like, zero sense of urgency in matches that need it. Then in ryders match too much. I guess I’d rather see the scenario in Ryders match and be frustrated by the over aggressiveness than pull my hair out by watching what I felt was Feldman not pulling the trigger. I think Feldman was the better wrestler but just didn’t let it fly. Sorry, just couldn’t help myself. Those boys are way more disappointed than I am for sure. And…. By no means do I hold any wrestling knowledge or accolades that put me in a position to be critical. Damn I hate watching an opportunity to beat Iowa slip away!
