The Maize and Blue stink this year.
They’ve lost duals to Maryland and Minnesota (by a lot) and their lone title threat is a first year transfer they didn’t develop, Jacob Cardenas. This from a program that took third at nationals in March.
What’s happening in Ann Arbor? The Ragusin injury plays a part, but I question how much effort the staff puts into recruiting high school prospects. They appear to be prioritizing the portal.
Lemley and the Mantanonas are solid but that’s not enough to keep pace in the Big 10. Meanwhile, Penn State is starting two Michigan HS standouts, Davis and Barr, and recently signed Michigan native Marcus Blaze.
Not a great sign for Sean Bormet, who despite this season I believe to be a good coach.

Michigan will be back. They have 7 top 100 recruits coming in 2025 and already two top 20 recruits committed for 2026. I expect them to get Alex Facundo also next year who should be an all American immediately. Oklahoma state and Iowa made it much harder to get portal guys. Michigan did beat us out for Cardenas last year as Ohio state did pursue him.

Jacob Cardenas would have made a huge difference for the Bucks.
UM doesn't develop talent as well as other top BT programs in my opinion but they have bucks to buy good wrestlers and have a good RTC.
Minnesota has a very good team if you look at the rankings. They get slept on because of portal losses and failure to land more big name recruits. But they sure do develop the guys in their room.
