Louden Swain pins returning state champ, Brian Shute on Feb 15, 1985. Swain drops two weights to 168 and takes down undefeated Shute.

Anybody remember where Shute went to college? I think Swain was hanging it up after the season.

To pull off an upset like that you need to be a lunatic on the fringe. No other way it can happen.

He certainly was Hungry for Heaven, so that helped a little as well.

Shute was heading to Iowa but Gable rescinded the offer after the loss. He ended up bouncing around until finally finding a home at Lock Haven. While there, he ended up getting a girl pregnant. He named the boy Chance.

That's right--Brian Shute is Chance Marstellar's dad. Chance Shute Marstellar. Don't ask me to explain the name change.

Marstellar was the mom's name. Shute never married her and bailed.
