Initial thoughts. Love McCrone and Cannons draw. Jesse has to go through VonBaur, Bartlett, and likely Alirez or Nebraska kid. Kharchla and Feldman got brutal draws at first glance

I don't mind Shumate's draw, I think Salazar is a match he can win although he'll be an underdog. I've liked his grit this season, and if three tight calls this season over about 15 seconds, he would be perceived very differently.

I have a fever dream where Bouzakis makes the finals. Urine is a dangerous first rounder, then Shawver who he beat at Big Tens, then would have Ayala, who is good but beatable, imo.

Also like Shumate's draw. He can beat Keuter and Trephan and get to the semis.

Five Buckeyes are seeded to advance to Friday night in the bloodround (Bouzakis, Cannon, Kharchla, Feldman) or semifinal (Mendez).

That doesn’t include D’Emilio who is seeded one spot below the bloodround.

Friday night will tell this season’s story.

Based off seeds Bucks would finish 11th

125) McCrone - good draw, in theory. McGowan and Robinson are two guys that he could beat on the right day. Big Tens was not the right day, however. He has a winning formula, if he can execute it. Figueroa--not happening. Really just hoping we see a better version of him next week.

133) Tough first round matchup, especially considering Bouzakis is a perpetual slow starter in tournaments (weight?). I like the Shawver matchup, though, and if you're a Drake Ayala fan, I think you're very nervous running into Bouzakis in the quarters.

141) Lemley->VomBaur->Bartlett is a tough stretch. If Mendez snaps out of the funk he's been in for the past month, he wins. Lemley must have opened the bracket and just said "you've got to be !@#$ing kidding me."

149) I don't mind the draw. Would rather see Paniro than any of the other top 6 seeds. Chances are very poor vs. Parco, but DD was always going to be in the blood round however you slice it.

157) Love the draw, but who knows. If he stays hot he's got a great shot at making the semis, but could just as easily lose early. I will say, he might struggle a bit later in the tournament considering how undersized he is.

165) Who knows. Draw seems fine. Beating Garvin and Sparks is definitely within reason, but hard to say what Paddy we're going to see.

174) Very bad draw. Wolak/Pinto/O'Toole? Needs to get to the quarters. Loss to Pinto pits him against Norman in consis, which is a toss-up IMO.

184) Sure, why not? Logic (and history) tells me Ruth is a bad matchup. You just hope he can make some noise on the back side.

197) I think he has a good path to win 2 or 3 matches on the back side. Already has a win over Braunagel. So I think he could potentially make R12, which would be a great result.

285) At some point he's going to have to beat Kueter. If he can, I like his chances vs. Trephan.

Lennox Wolak, Kharchla’s opponent in the opener, is having a rough season after finishing on the podium last year.

Anyone know the story?

I'll attribute it to my new favorite acronym that I learned from this site.......HEW!

How is Luffman the 8 and Feldman the 12? Nick is 3-0 against him this year, and Nick's only losses this year are to the #1, #5, and #6 seeds.

I think (1) he got hot at the right time last year, rode a nice winning streak into NCAA's, and (2) Virginia Tech's schedule is significantly more challenging than Columbia's was.

He has a few strange losses this year, but generally speaking I think he's more like a 15th to 20th in the country guy, rather than an NCAA semifinalist.

That was a head-scratcher for me, too.
Guessing the Committee members were mentally drained by the time they got to the heavyweights, and mailed it in.
Kidding.
Sort of.
