Cody Chittum is on the way as is Maddox Shaw. Both are around the same size as Brandon Cannon. If you land McNeil, you'll have a log jam. Not mention Paddy Gallagher has one more year and is really more of a 157 in my opinion.

Bucks will need someone to move up to 165 unless Birden is the plan. My guess is he's going to bump up to 174.

Hypothetical lineup:
125: McCrone/Kilkeary
133: Davino
141: Mendez
149: Cannon (unless McNeil also transfers in)
157: Chittum
165: Gallagher
174: Birden
184: Rogotzke
197: Geog/Shumate (unless Geog is in the portal)
285: Feldman

Problem with my hypothetical is I don't list Shaw under the assumption he'll redshirt. If Tom Ryan learned one lesson last season (I hope he did), it's wrestle your best lineup. Holding out Davino and Welsh potentially cost the Bucks a couple AA's. And probably hastened Welsh's decision to leave although there's no way to know for certain. You can't start Bouzakis next season over Davino. Will Bouzakis hit the portal? And if McNeil does come, Bucks will have too many guys for too few wt classes.

Vinny/McCrone
Davino
Mendez
McNeil/Shaw/Nic (Gomez went 33-49 and was fantastic cam Nic do the same)
Chittum
Birden/Paddy
Cannon ( went 41-57 in a year and has the frame to add more muscle. Would rather see him go up then cut down and)
Ryder
Shumat/Geog
Feldman

197. Hope we can dip into the portal for a 184. Ryder needs to RS.

I guess the question is who fits best at 165?

If McNeil is indeed coming to Columbus, I could see many different iterations of McNeil/Chittum/Cannon at 149 - 165.

Also, hard to figure where Paddy fits into this, if he does at all. He clearly wasn't right at the end of this season, but if he's healthy he's a tough out for any of those three.

You're forgetting about Shaw. Easy to say "he'll redshirt" and probably a good idea. But if he's the best guy, what do you do?

I think we need to wait and see if McNeil is even coming. If not they can sort out 149-165 between the other three. I think the bigger question is what happens to Bouzakis?

And what is the total number they can have on next years roster? I think I heard 30?

I think next year max roster size is 30.

I think Bucks have around 25 guys and PSU has 40 on their roster now.

Our we sure they have 25 guys left? Once you remove graduates and portal guys I’m not sure how many guys are on the roster. Gone are the two deep days.

125-McCrone-RSo/Kilkeary-RSo
133-Bousakis-RSo/Davino-Fr
141-Mendez-Jr/King-Fr
149-some walk ons listed (2)
157-Cannon-RFr-/T.J. Schierl
165-Gallagher-RJr/Chase-RSo
174-Birden-Fr
184-Rogotske-So
197-Shumate-RSo/Geog-RSo/Two others
285-Feldman-RSo/Misista-RJr

That’s 20. Everyone else has been listed on the portal. Keep in mind that we have one top recruit coming in, Maddox Shaw at 149. There are some real depth concerns in the upper middle weights. Birden might not even be a 174. For my money I drop Shumate back down to 184. Depending on how the portal goes I’m curious if they drop Cannon back down.

I know Ohio state is bringing in Brogan fielding from spire academy. He is just going to be a depth guy. Ohio state has to be bringing in more than two freshman I’m just not sure who else.

Not that I have seen anywhere. Vince Bousakis was committed then ended up at Pitt. Blaze was the prize. Can’t think of a class that has been this paltry for the Bucks.

They need to beef up through the portal.
