Lee (1 - 1) DNP. Surprising and even more surprising was how he lost. 14-3 tech ... and it wasn't a FS tech where he was laced up. He just got whipped.
Forrest (3-2) 5th. IMHO, he got screwed in his bronze medal match but at only 18, what an incredible performance.
Duke -- (1 - 1) DNP. Lost only to defending WC 7-5. Like Forrest, he has some HUGE days coming.
Carr -- (2 - 1) in repechage tomorrow. Had 5 - 1 lead before losing 7 - 5. That hurt.
Haines -- in Gold medal match. Had to defeat the 2023 WC to make it there.
Valencia -- Gold. outscored his opponents, including 2x WC Ghasempour (Iran), 49 - 0. Yeah, the move to Stillwater was EXACTLY what he needed.
Hidlay -- In gold medal match. He has aboslutely DESTROYED his competition.
Hendrickson -- (0 - 1) DNP. He and Lee were only disappointing performances for team USA heading into Day 3.
USA has Burroughs, Dake, Taylor, Cox not on the team -- and reload with Carr, Haines, Valencia, Hidlay. Yeah, USA is DEEP.

Pretty impressive that Team USA is still so competitive in the team race with Lee and Hendrickson bowing out so early.

I saw this paragraph below in an article about Valencia on InterMat. Very impressive turnaround.
"Just over two and a half years ago, Ishiguro blanked Valencia by an 11-0 score at the Zagreb Open. In his post-semis interview, Valencia said he was told about the result but didn’t remember the match. It was evident that Valencia wasn’t worried about the matchup, as he turned the tables on his Japanese foe."

I watched Valencia's semis and finals matches live over the weekend, and man did he have some nice takedowns.

US doesn't have Dake, Taylor, Burroughs, Brooks -- and we still get Gold from Hidlay and Valencia, Silver from Haines, and 5th from Carr (lost 6-5 to Valiev and 2-2 on step out with 5 seconds left in match to Sidakov).

Valencia is the right size for the weight. Makes a huge difference. Also helps that he's really good.
Awesome job by Hidlay. One of my favorites to watch over the years.

Helen Maroulis wins gold in dramatic fashion with an inside trip with about 5 seconds left to win 3-2! 5th World/Olympic Gold, 11th medal. GOAT
Kylie Welker, just 21 years old, won her 2nd bronze. Kennedy Blades wrestles for bronze tomorrow.

Welker and Blades both bring home Bronze medals.
Only 3 medals is disappointing for the ladies team -- but outside of Helen, the team is really young (and without Amit as she's pregnant).
Yes, the 2 on 1 to foot sweep, pick & dump is so SMOOTH!
