Bucks have a few guys that look like they could use a day off. With Michigan and Wiscy coming up, it looks like some guys could use at least one off night including Stiles, Fishbach and Kharchla. I'd suggest resting Mendez but he'd probably kill me.

Both these teams have plenty of tough wrestlers but enough holes in their lineups to plan accordingly.

Perhaps Jason Jackson (or someone with similar skills) could breakdown potential matchups?

I am not Jason Jackson nor do I have similar skills but I did have 2 cancellations today so I will give it a shot,

OSU vs. Michigan

125: Nick Bouzakis vs. #23 Diego Sotelo (UM)
-I have Bouzakis scoring bonus here.

133: Ben Davino vs. Gauge Botero (UM)
-Again I have OSU with bonus points here. Most likely a tachfall or pin.

141: Jesse Mendez vs. Dylan Ragusin (UM)
-TBH I didn't realize Ragusin was still wrestling. He has to be at least 25 or 26. I feel like at one time he was AA caliber but he is unranked. Either way it probably doesn't matter. Mendez by techfall.

149: Ethan Stiles vs. #17 Lachlan McNeil (UM)
-McNeil was an AA last year and heavily sought after in the transfer portal. I'm not sure what happened but he seems to be having a down year. All that said Stiles seems to have close matches and McNeil at his best is a stud. I feel like this one could go either way.

157:Brandon Cannon/Maddox Shaw vs #14Cameron Catrabone(UM)
-If Cannon goes (I would rest him) he is favored and likely to score bonus. If Shaw goes I would give the nod to Catrabone.

165: Gallager/Birden vs Justin Gates (UM)
-I would favor Paddy or Birden over Gates.

174: Carson Kharchla vs. #12 Beau Mantanona (UM)
-Obviously Kharchla is favored but Mantanona is a dangerous opponent. Carson did not look as sharp Sunday but obviously quality of opponent played a part.

184: Dylan Fishback vs #8 Brock Mantanona (UM)
-Another tough test for Fishback. He gets in a lot of attacks but seems to have difficulty finishing on top opponents. This could be a close one but I am confident that Fishback will get the job done.

197: Geog/Shumate vs. #27 Hayden Walters (UM)
-I go back and forth on who I want as the starter at 197. I think either guy handles Walters.

285: Nick Feldman vs. #6 Taye Ghadiali (UM)
-These guys are 1-1 against each other. I believe Ghadiali has a win over Feldman in last years all star match but Feldman beat him the previous year in the consolation round at NCAA's Ghadiali was handled by Ferrari at national duals. Should be a good scrap.

Thats what I have for tOSU vs. Michigan. I may do tOSU vs. Wisonsin later on.

Chad Mendes went to cal poly and lost to Jaggers in the NCAA finals. Went on to have a good UFC career. No relation to Jesse lol.

Shaw may not have any more matches to wrestle. He’s been in quite a few. They won’t burn his redshirt.

Ohio state by far has the strongest strength of schedule this year. Nc state, Iowa twice, Nebraska twice, Minnesota twoce, Iowa state, Penn state. That’s a brutal schedule. These guys should get some rest. I’m worried about Carson the most. He faded bad last year.

Ha! Talk about a throwback (sometimes I get confused if it's 2008 or 2026). Chad Mendez was a beast though and also a 141. Jaggers beat him for his first title! I went back and fixed it.

Jaggers beat him after Mendez broke his ankle.

In the old days you could weigh in two guys at the same weight, but could wait until they have to step on the mat to make the decision who will wrestle. Is that still in effect, or do you have to declare who will wrestle at weigh in? You may want to rest a guy but if things aren't going as planned he may still wrestle.

I thought at home you could weigh in as many as you want. I might be wrong though.

Bucks remaining schedule starting with Iowa Friday followed by PSU and Maryland. Do you sit anyone to protect a seed or give some additional rest.

125
Iowa - #6 Peterson but he has missed their last couple of duals and they have rolled out Cruz who is 1-1 in last 2 duals.

PSU - #1 Lilledhal wins over Peterson and Moran.

Maryland UR

If Peterson does not go for Iowa will Bucks give Nic the day off and save him for PSU.

133
Iowa - #8 Ayala he has looked good the last 2 duals and lost to Blaze 4-2. Ben has already beat him once 10-3.

PSU #4 Blaze Wrestled the last 2 matches against ranked guys pretty close.

Maryland #20 Brown I would consider sitting Ben here and giving him a little more time off.

141
Iowa #12 Bailey Almost beat Hardy but was TF by Jesse earlier this year.

PSU #13 Davis RS pulled and lost to Bailey and Hardy. Seems to gas late in matches.

Maryland UR

149
Iowa #13 Block Stiles already has a win over Block and seems to have injured himself. Would probably sit him here and let Shaw go.

PSU #1 SVN has given up some TD last few matches.

Maryland #10 Young. Was up 7-0 on SVN before getting TF

157 - Sounds like Cannon is out till B10
Iowa #16 Williams did not wrestle last time they wreslted Iowa. Lost a close one to Duke

PSU #4 Duke

Maryland #UR

165
Iowa #3 Caliendo Paddy lost a close one earlier. I think I would give Birden this match.

PSU #1 MM - Whoever is here will get TF

Maryland UR

174
Iowa #3 Lost in OT earlier.

PSU #1 Haines. Beat a game Minto by 2 last week. Carson lost a close one last year.

Maryland UR

184
Iowa #2 Ferrai but has not wrestled the last few matches after huring his knee aginst PSU. Could see Arnold who is pretty good.

PSU #1 Welsh We all know about him

Marland UR

197
Iowa UR have been wrestling Sampson or TR Freshman.

PSU #1 Barr nonstop attacks.

Maryland UR

285.
Iowa #9 Kueter has beat Nick the last few times they wrestled but Ben has not looked good this year.

#8 PSU Mirasola smaller 285. but gets after it. Nic beat him last year.

Maryland UR

Ohio state will not rest starters against Penn state or Iowa. They are still trying to win the dual even though it is nearly impossible to do now vs Penn state.
It’s Ohio states last home dual at a sold at Covelli against Tom Ryan’s Alma mater. No one is resting until Maryland.

Paddy, bouzakis, geog have had plenty of rest alternating starts.

Stiles will be needed to win. I don’t think he needs rested, he just needs to manage weight better. He should be better in a tournament setting.

Davino and Jesse are ultimate competitors and will refuse to sit. Doesn’t look like they have been affected anyways.

Feldman, Fishback and Carson probably need the most rest but they won’t sacrifice a dual. After national duals Feldman looked like he was in a war and they still didnt rest him against I believe Kent State which I think was silly.

Maryland I could see a lot of guys being rested. I understand that NCAAs are the ultimate goal but these two duals mean a lot for tom Ryan and the kids. For Jesse and Carson it will be their last home match against Iowa also. This match will be much closer this time around.

Who back's up Feldman, Fishback and Carson anyway? It wouldn't even be competitive. At least Vinny, Birden and Shumate can hold their own.

I could be way off on this comment, but here it is…

… Unless making weight is an issue (which I know it is for some) would not wrestling 7 minute match be that much of a rest? If a break is needed, perhaps a rest from a few practices would be the better path to take.

Though?
