Discussion Topic: Road Trip to NCAA’s in Cleveland
Freddy Carr added to this discussion on March 12, 2026

Making the trip with 3 friends for the tourney. Have been to several NCAA’s but not to Cleveland.

Flying in, staying downtown in a hotel, within walking distance to the arena.

Any tips on dining around town in between and after rounds? Prefer to walk if possible. Doesn’t have to be fancy. In fact would prefer the more casual sports bar, brewery scene. Or anything local that we shouldn’t miss?

Appreciate any intel.

You will have plenty of options but two really close are Flannery’s Pub and Harry Buffalo. More farther on 4th street.

Welcome to Cleveland!

If you don't mind dive bars, Becky's on E 18th (0.8mi) has great wings and tater tots. Winking Lizard (0.6mi) is my go to for a sports bar, also with decent wings and a much more extensive menu than Becky's. Noble Beast (1.0 mi) has very good beer and up-level bar food (try the nachos!).
Across the bridge to W 25th, you will find the West Side Market, which is cool to explore, but not for chilling and eating while watching sports and drinking a beer. For that you can go next door to Market Garden (1.3mi) or Townhall or ABC Tavern.

Hmmmm Freddy Carr that name sounds familiar from other sites ;)

I hope you enjoy your stay, Cleveland has a ton of great food options and entertainment downtown. I'm sure there are plenty of experts to chime on on here for some great go-too's.

Have fun Freddy!!! All are great choices. If you want a great burger and a dive joint, go to Johnny’s little bar.

Already have good recommendations here. Johnny's Little Bar is THE place to go if you are looking for good food in a dive bar. Becky's is also a great spot. Both may be less busy being off E4th. Hairy Buff is meh, but close. Flannery's will potentially be overrun due to St. Patty's. Noble Beast is the best downtown brewery in my opinion, but a bit of a hike if you don't want to walk that far. Masthead is closer, and Southern Tier even closer to E4th. Best food downtown is at Cordelia, which is right on E4th.

Mister Brisket is a 20 minute ride from downtown. I'll be at evening sessions on Thursday and Friday but in my store during the day. 2156 S. Taylor Rd 44118

Saturday, March 21st - between sessions 5 & 6 (placement round & finals) I will be playing guitar & "singing" at The House of Blues for WIBN event. Just saying. ;-)
