For the medal round session, i wound up having seats 3 rows from the mats. No one was directly in front of me, and in the very first row, there were a bunch of kids whom, from their apparel, looked to be in the St Ed pipeline. They all got a picture with Paddy after his last match.
Anyway, Blaze loses to Seidel in the mat right in front of us. He walks off the mat with tears in his eyes. As I’m wrestling with my thoughts of “I feel for him for the pain he feels” and “glad that traitor lost,” he walks right by us, making tearful eye contact with the kids in front of me, tosses his bloodied headgear to one of them and continues into the tunnel.
The kid that caught it will probably never forget that. Who knows—maybe he’ll go on to do big things in the sport.

Damn it Ben. How can we hate him when he's a good guy? He turned down the Mister Brisket NIL. Can we hate him for that?

Turning down competition grade wagyu is easily a hate-worthy offense. Problem solved!
