Fantastic video and after watching it, it brings up the inevitable questions...he's wrestling near 141 and he looks to be quite dominant, was he cutting too much? If he can't cut to 133 anymore and be successful will he have to battle out the returning 141 National Champion for a spot and play the reserve role? It brings up a lot of interesting thoughts besides those I'm sure.

I think this was discussed before this past season but any way Palmer can go 157, Jaggers at 149 and Humphrey at 141? Some good lightweights have come in that could fill in at 125 and 133 (with Triggas being one of them of course).

How about a redshirt year from Palmer? It might be a good time with so many studs bumping heads.

Nicholas:
Well, unless Palmer redshirts and Jags moves up, Humphrey is almost certain to spend another year at 133. Keep in mind that Humphrey had a very good season. The only match where he really got mauled was the dual against Reiter -- and that's just a bad matchup for him. He made it to the round of 12 at nationals and won about 70% of his matches as a sophomore (while wrestling a brutal schedule). On the flip side, there was probably not a single wrestler in the country that led more often and then lost than Humphrey. You name any match he lost and he almost always had the early lead. That's unusual. Could it be the weight cut? Sure. But I thought the same thing about Jaggers a year ago. One national championship later, I think it's time to say I was wrong. Humphrey may or may not be a similar situation. We'll see.

Iowa has a similar problem at 133. Last weekend I saw Daniel Dennis tear through the competition at 132.5, including a finals win against Franklin Gomez, and looked up his bio. Apparently he was going to be the starter and broke his jaw at the start of the season, so Slaton filled in, finishing as the NCAA runner-up. I guess Iowa has always had that "problem", whereas OSU is new to it.

Roe, DJ and others: Another option would be for Palmer to redshirt and Johnstone to go 149. Johnstone has one year of eligibility left. If he's proven one thing, it's that he's not scared of anyone. At 157, he's gone up against the very best over the last two seasons and usually held his own. At 149, I think the mental toughness he's gained would make him an instant star. He's wrestled Gillespie, Poeta, C.P., Vallimont, etc... He's not going to be afraid of Dustin, Metcalf, and Jenkins. Indeed, I think that the last two years have prepared him to have a huge season if he were able to compete at a more appropriate weight class. I've heard some rumblings that he's going to graduate and give up his last season. If that's untrue, I think moving him to 149 and redshirting Lance makes a lot of sense.
